Yes, not full PVR but buffer recording using an external usb dongle (of a certain minimum size according to my sources)

Site loads on my windows mobile but not found on my iPad... Strange.

Disappointed that it launched without any notice. I'm on their mailing list and not even an email! Grrrr.

Wow $14.95 to watch a sports event. Eg the breakers, wouldn't it be better just to get SKy and add the $20.00 or so to add the sports channels.

Well, no surprise there. Once someone posted here last week about the launch I contacted their PR team (two different people) and their CEO. No reply to any request for information, not even a "no comment".

Not impressed.

Sky Basic Package $46.12
Sky Sports addon $26.34

= $72.46 per month/$870 per year to watch live sport.

/ $14.95 igloo event charge and you get 4.8 events.
So basically, watch any more than 4 paid events per month and you're better off to get sky.

And if you want any thing in HD then you have to get sky, but that costs another $15 to get an HD capable mysky device and then an additional $9.99 to purchase the HD access Ticket.

I think its pretty obvious that if you want the on-demand/pay per view sports features they want you to go with 'regular' sky.
This was initially touted as 'sky lite' - a handful of channels at a cheaper price. A 'starter' package if you will.

I am sure marketing is aware that people may start doing the maths and move to regular sky for the sports.

Personally I am not too worried about the 'extra' events - so Igloo looks interesting enough.

Not sure how much they will push/make available the 'netflix' sort of web streaming - if they make that work then they need to keep a lid on the price I reckon to make it work.

Hmm - website looks like they are doing some work but http://www.igloo.co.nz/igloo/index.html is up and looking like its ready for business.

$6.99 for 'recent' a video on demand - ok I guess for a wet afternoon.

What a shame. After all that early promise, this is a real let down for me.

I'm happy with the available channels, because on the rare occasion we watch Sky they are what we watch. But $15 for each sports event is a joke.

The reality is I have Sky for one thing and one thing only and that's the English football (and the odd Phoenix game) and at $100 a month that's not cheap for 4-6 games a month.

But at $15 for each event added to the fact all the games are in the middle of the night so I need some form of PVR (could always get Mediaportal going again) means Igloo is a complete non-starter for me.

Even $25 a month is sounding like a lot for the basic channels now I think about it.

WOW so where is the cost benefit?

As for the sports.. the prices and content is a bit of an insult ...

They have the HRV Cup, Northern Knights v Otago Volts LIVE for $14.95.

Not interested...

Where is the current test between Aus and South Africa? That may be worth $14.95. What about any blackcap tests?

One thing I raised with them was I thought the prices for sport events were a bit too high. But then again this is meant to be for casual watchers of sport/maybe a game or 2 a month not a game every week. From what I have noticed over the past few months it was $15 for AIR NZ Cup/NRL/Breakers, $20 All Blacks, boxing events were/are around $25 (I think) but one off special/high demand events like Shane Cameron/Danny green + Fight 4 life are $40.

There isnt many "Blockbusters" either in their movie range. However I guess a blockbuster to me, might not be a blockbuster to everyone else.
