Since the reset it has been perfect and we had the manager of the person who installed it come around for a routine inspection and told him what happened. He also did something so that when I first go in to the EPG I can still hear the channel we were watching rather than "elevator" music. I don't know why it needed that reset but it obviously did and it's all sweet now. I don't think it had anything to do with the weather.

Definitely sounds like the soft boot post update was not enough.

Hi,

I had Mysky installed last Thursday, and had the same problem!!

Some investigating on the internet showed that the error code 21 (no signal) may not be related to the incoming signal from the satellite, but rather that there was no "start signal", and once the programme finished being transmitted, the decoder realises that the programme didn't record, and results in "Failed". At least, that was my understanding of what I read.

I also tried changing the overrun settings for both start and finish times.

My investigations showed that for me the only successful recordings were on channels that were being watched at the time the recording was starting - so I too concluded something wrong with one of the tuners. (I had set up two recordings to happen at the same time - only one worked, and that was on the channel that was also being watched).

Anyway, I rang SKY this morning, and they also had me reset the machine. I then tested by trying to record two shows simultaneously, and it worked! Yay!! I then tried the schedule two shows simultanously for record whilst watching a third channel. And that worked also. Yay - Yay!!

So, I am now hopeful that all is working - only time will confirm.

So you are not alone with this problem! Hopefully we have both solved our issues with the reset.

I've had the same issues with my mysky unit over the past few days, error 21 no signal. Even though I've been watching the tv at the time and the signal light was not on. It has failed multiple recordings over the last few days. Its also started intermittently dropping picture and sound over hdmi, I've checked all my connections and everything is snug. Have also performed three resets and still have the same problem.

My sky is billed through Vodafone, and I am having separate headaches with both companies regarding getting this fixed. Long story short, I moved house last year and Vodafone set up  a new connections at the new address, but Vodafone never changed my address details with SKY. I did call SKY to update my details in September last year but was told the information could only come through Vodafone. You think this would be simple to resolve but its not. Sky are regarding my request as a new install, even though I've used their service at this address since September last year, and have the bills to prove it. Sky still want to charge me $49 for a new install. At my wits end with both companies.

Whew! Seems I have been lucky then. I was originally being billed by Telecom, but once the Telecom charges for Sky TV were raised and became the same as with getting billed directly from SKY, I just called Telecom, and told them I no longer wanted to be billed for SKY TV by Telecom, and wanted SKY to bill me direct.

My last phone bill no longer had any SKY charges, and so far SKY haven't billed me anything, but they do know that they are billing me for SKY in the future, so I am expecting my first SKY bill direct from Sky any day soon.

As for my error 21 problem.... after the reset the other day, the recordings seem to work now, so fingers crossed, all is OK for me.

I suspect you have a faulty MYSKY recorder, aided by poor customer service. Hope you manage to resolve it all. Good luck!

Can you get them to send you the missed recordings on dvd. I would be pretty gutted if I had paid all that money for my sky, and it hadn't recorded what I wanted. Never had that sort of probelm with my freeview PVR, expect when there is a schedule conflict.

I realised pretty quick that the recordings were failing.

Only missed an episode of Coronation St ( Which moves so slow that one can miss an episode and no big deal), and Judge Judy which repeats anyway!

All working now, and I suspect SKY wouldn't come to the party regarding missed programmes ;)
