BraaiGuy: Maybe a better solution:

For freeview on your PC you try TVNZ on demand and TV3 ondemand?
Then for isky you can use http://www.isky.co.nz/ (But you will need to be a valid sky account holder)

For all of the above you will need to have a NZ Ip address. Search the net for a suitable provider that has an NZ server. I know Astrill has.

TV3 and TVNZ on demand does not work in the UK. (Might work through a VPN)

On a more serious note, what about some sort of Freeview/Sky MythTV/GBPVR/MCE box sitting in New Zealand capturing a local satellite/terrestrial signal and transmitting it across the world (ideally sitting on a UFB 100/50 connection of sorts)?

Most of the garbage on Sky is syndicated old stuff, you will no doubt find it on any third rate service where you are.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Yeah, and everything on free to air TV is just awesome, has the latest top rated programming avaliable anywhere in the world and the live sport they carry is just great.

I think the OP is more interested in New Zealand specific shows on TV? Sky offers nothing and there will be better related Kiwi stuff on freeview. I dont see the point of having NZ Sky in the UK unless the OP wants to watch Sports?

What you describing in part is Slingbox

http://www.slingbox.com/

It seems that should work so long as the friend in NZ doesn't mind your controlling his MySky box.

Now, I know you're being sarcastic; BUT...  Prime showing free-to-air the Christmas Doctor Who special on Boxing Day evening, less than 24 hours after it screening in the UK, is pretty awesome in both my and my kids opinion (the wife has a slightly different view!).

Yes, that's exceptional, but still worth pointing out that occasionally there is a gold nugget amongst the dross.

It's all a big wank on Four.

None of those shows really need to be shown so quickly.

Would rather havd HD than that crap hot off the satellitte.

And none in HD though for those shows it's probably not relevant.

The same issue applies to Prime - new shows but not in HD. And the shows they have would benefit from HD.

Yep... Hence why I would be downloading Doctor Who off a torrent rather than watching it on Prime in SD... HD Doctor Who is a completely different experience IMHO.
