tdgeek: Tks Jakob.

So, after reading all the posts, and that the iPad is generally very good, it appears to me to be the PC platform or Silverlight.  Your post indicates a Silverlight issue, although my rMBP played well. That also uses Silverlight. Or more the PC version of Silverlight?

Does anyone know if PLP uses Silverlight also?

PLP is Neulion, and they use Flash.

I'm not sure whether this relevant or not. I had the same issue as you with PLP on my desktop, the motion wasn't as clean as iPad playback. I was using Chrome at the time and switched to Firefox and it fixed the issue, playback as good as iPad.

It could be how flash player built in into chrome vs Firefox (I'm not an expert) ... So I'm guessing the juddering is more compatibility issues more than anything else.

I'm wondering if there is something unique to your guys setup that is related here?

I've been watching lightbox on a 46" full hd led, via airplay from my ipad, and I honestly don't see *any* of the juddering motion your are talking about.
I've been watching homeland, 24 and Spartacus.
It all looks, to me, to be absolutely fine. Very clear picture. No different to watching netflix to my eyes.

I would have thought if it were as obvious as you guys make it sound, literally everybody would be complaining about it.

Do you have some tweaked setup where the framerate is adjusted on the fly or something?

If you had been paying attention, you'd have noted that no-one is having playback trouble with ipad.

In fact I specifically said the iPad experience is better in every way?

Yep +1 iPad is fine. Will try with Firefox tomorrow.

I started my first post in this thread with "I have perfect ipad playback".

Have you tried using a PC and (more relevant still at this point in the thread) Chrome web browser?

that's what we are discussing here... the SILVERLIGHT use in a PC's web browser seems to cause the problems?

Just installed Firefox at work and retested.  Yes, Firefox is better on Lightbox but still not fantastic or as smooth as Netflix was.  I started to logon to PLP on Firefox but strangely got an "untrusted" message (see below) and then asked to install Flash - so I didn't progress.

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.premierleaguepass.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

Anyway - back on topic.  It will be interesting to see what the Lightbox fine-tuning turns up.

It sounds like the Silverlight implementation does not do proper hardware and/or double buffering. That should be enough for 30 fps 1080p streaming.
