I seem to remember reading somewhere that the new decoders have the recording function but it's not enabled by default and you have to pay extra for the DVR function..
I see no need to pay extra for DVR functionality. I already have that via connecting my existing (basic) decoder to my Panny recorder - with the added advantage of DLNA connectivity for TVs in other rooms etc. Unless the new decoder is twin-tuner and includes DLNA, I'm not interested.
Gouging me by shipping hardware with certain capabilities, deliberately disabling them, and then trying to ping me for extra to turn them on, would be very obnoxious. But, in any event, I'm close to dropping the Sky sub entirely in favour of a bigger data package from my ISP and Netflix/Hulu/BBC as content sources. I'm struggling more and more to see a value proposition from Sky.
