joker97: i don't care ... all i want is to be able to arrange the recorded shows on MySKy+ properly! i have to scroll through pages and pages to get the most recent recording! whyyyyyy

otherwise it works a charm. upgrade is good as long as they don't break it and introduce glitches

Nothing about the way that Sky does business will change until it's management is replaced.

They still think it's ok to have a streaming SkyGo service that breaks during an All Blacks game.

no customers need to vote with their feet and wallets and leave

Great, except that sport lovers don't have any reasonable alternatives.

If Sky lost the rights to AB's games or an alternative provider turned up, then Sky's customer base would halve overnight guarantee it.  We like the kids stuff and food tv, but neither would have me paying >$100 a month for. AB's though, no choice.

Sky is notorious for it's slooooow roll out of anything. It generally goes like this:

1. New player or something happens in the TV space which has the potential to disrupt Sky.
2. Sky puts out a press release with lots of information about their plans (as per the first post here)
3. The Sky plans never really happen.

Sky Go didn't work for the Super Rugby finals again so it is not just the All Blacks that cause it to crash.

I guess Sky will get there but it would be very helpful if Sky were more active in social media or even traditional media. More frequent updates would stop a lot of the moaning.

Please give us an update Sky. It would help us and you. Less churn for you. More info for us.

Cheers, Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

The skyondemand.co.nz website has had the message coming soon on since about October last year, a few details were in January's skywatchers mag but otherwise nothing heard about that since. But as previous posts have suggested the decoder upgrade needs to happen first even though I think their original plan was to have the on demand service available to existing my sky decoders first. Won't hold my breath.

AFAIK the decoder upgrade is more to do with stopping illegal card-sharing than with the VoD upgrade.  However Sky have a pretty consistent track record at never meeting their promised deadlines, by months or even years in some cases!

i also discovered there was no way of watching a catchup on my phone!
skygo app has no catchup
can't load it on the browsers - presumably needed flash or something extra ... maybe should've tried chrome

Yep, pretty sure it's still using flash.  I needed to use it last week to catch up on a missed 60 Minutes episode and couldn't help noticing how much it sucks compared to BBC iPlayer.  The user interface is very slow and fiddly to fast forward or rewind.

NonprayingMantis: the SVOD service is Neon. It launched a couple of months late, in early 2015.

the software upgrade to existing decoders simply says "2015".  It's only July, so they still have 5 months left to fulfil that.

The STB switch over says it will happen FROM March 2015, and will take 18 months.  I don't know if some people have had the upgrade yet, but since we are only 4 months into this 18 months time scale (and it could easily have been delayed by a month of two in any case) then it's not surprising we haven't seen anything about it yet.

Hard to believe not a single person has come forward to say they have it, in a community this size, if indeed they ARE rolling it out, which I seriously doubt. They have delayed it, but again failed to communicate, which is running a company 101 (communicate if you can't deliver).

Its fun reading these comments and knowing more than i am allowed to say. Being self employed and working for sky has its benefits.

Even more frustrating is you look at Pace Decoders http://www.pace.com/global/our-portfolio/set-top-box/satellite

T
here is a huge range available..but we get 10 year old decoders.. and pay through the teeth for them..

I loath MySky interface/box.. having other Satellite PVRs well before Sky released theirs.. there are simple much more on market..

Even reading Pace website, they make very good UI esp now with light javascript/css etc
