beehappy: I would like 1 button channel select (ie press number 1 selects channel one instead of pressing 001 ) yes i know 1st world problem but would be nice.

I said that 20 more HD channels could be added once transponders shifted to DVB-S2 H.264, this will happen once all the legacy boxes are replaced in 18 months or so

Does anyone know the Height Width Depth dimensions of the box that will replace the old sliver decoders?
I only have a wee gap underneath my 32" TV which the silver coder fits in but the MySky on the other TV wouldn't.
Really hope I dont have to start digging out old phone books to raise the height of the TV.

kiwifidget: How about a remote that you can easily get the back off to change the batteries.

Will those who get Sky via Vodafone be getting the new boxes too or just the Sky direct customers?

My Existing Remote Spews out a sticky liquid. It looks like glue between the plastic and rubber on the battery cover and my previous remote did the same.

Anyhow, I imagine like most free-standing flat panel TV's mine has a flat base (which is a bit shorter than the length of the panel) then a vertical stand bit then the panel.
I have a 6cm gap under the panel and 30cm free to the side of the base.
So long as it fits under the panel and beside the base there will be plenty of ventilation in almost every direction.

as a guide I use 2 fingers top and sides for current mysky boxes

Why don't you get a replacement? It's free if you send back the old remote and you get free batteries :D

Yep, very true, also if anyone has any old boxes that are packing up then SKY will sort to get the new ones in that way as well.

I'm glad to hear this. I have been putting up with a silver decoder that doesn't retain its settings when the power goes off. Between that and a my sky remote with a defective pause button, I think a visit from a man in a van is justified.

Since I like to have things ready to make the installation as quick and painless as possible I assume that having an accessible Ethernet cable and hdmi lead will help. My setup is in a rack that has to be wheeled out of a cupboard to access the back, which is bit of a mission.

That's a good idea. I have hdmi and Ethernet cables on hand but I will need to get a wee switch put in so that both the TV and the new Sky box are internetable.
The MySky box already has access to an ethernet port, should I just go ahead and connect it up?

I was a little concerned about my system, how is the video feed accomplished and that sort of thing.
Had a look at the interweb site and it uses the existing modem network. As I have a HTPC connected both to the TV and the web I can see an additional 3 meter ethernet cable in my future. I could opt for a WiFi feed, but that would cost amonthly hire fee.
For my system - a MySky+ system, the update is done OTA, satellite feed apparently.
The internet site is

Skytv.co.nz/ondemand

Most will be revealed there.
