I remember when TLC was The Learning Channel until it was bought by Discovery and turned into another reality TV channel.

It's not actually the same channel. The channel was Discovery Travel & Living and rebranded a few years ago to use the TLC logo (short for Travel & Living channel) but does not replace the TLC channel in the US, it merely uses the logo.

This channel was on TCL/Vodafone cable TV for years but was canned by Vodafone earlier in the year. I was always surprised that Vodafone carried this but Sky never picked it up as it had a lot of great content.

+1. Have never had a bike and no ambition to get one - but used to enjoy Henry Cole and his unusual style - became a bit of a fan and watched most of his stuff. Liked his two-parter on NZ - and he said some nice things about NZ and NZers.

I don't particularly like motorcycles either but there is something about his shows and the way he does it that makes you want to watch them.

If you like them I highly recommend watching "The Long Way Round" (& Down) by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman as well.
Fantastic travel docu series.

BTW Travel Channel is a largely Kiwi driven company (I believe it was originally set up by a bunch of Kiwis in London).
There have been many shows relating to NZ or even with NZ hosts such as Camilla Andersen.

Call me old fashioned, but I remember when music was what MTV was all about, and not the Teen Mom, Ex on the Beach, Geordie Shore rubbish that's on now. I'd rather they kept the music video channels and ditched what is now "MTV".

which makes it even more strange that they are doing a fantasy series based on the Terry Brooks Shannara books . The trailers look ok but it's MTV.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

got to be nothing about travel and I stopped watching it like a lot of people.
There must be a heap of folk who are hacked off at the likes of National Geographic still in fuzzy vision when the rest of the world gets the HD version. Channels 71,72,73,74,75 should all be in HD in this day and age.
I bet they have a few who cancel because of the fuzzy pics for a rip off price.

You probably won't see any new HD channel until after 18 months when they change the broadcast compression for more space!

I liked MTV Classic (and J2). But it's like Sky said at the time they killed off Juice TV - people don't really watch music TV much these days.

Wasnt Juice a third-party channel rather than a Sky channel. And hasnt its proprietor started Garage?

Broadcast on Sky but not necessarily owned and operated by Sky. I think owned by Flametree Media - which is a family owned and run business.

Wasn't Juice TV free to air on UHF before Sky even started, or perhaps I'm thinking of some other music channel.
