It should update direct via Sony rather than Play Store. It's only just gone live so may take a wee while before it appears

GeorgefromLightbox:

@toii it's also coming soon for older Sony Bravias (the Linux based ones). Keep your eyes peeled.

Yep!

I kinda wondered if turning Lightbox into a freebie for Spark customers would mean a slowing of investment, no signs of that so far...so when is the first commissioned TV show going to be released

What is the possibility this App will make it to the Play store and not be a Sony exclusive? I have 2 Nvidia Shield TV's at home waiting and I know there are a few more geekzoners that have them as well.

Home Server: AMD Threadripper 1950X, 64GB, 56TB HDD, Define R6 Case, 10GbE, ESXi 6.7, UNRAID, NextPVR, Emby Server, Plex Server.
Lounge Media Center: NVIDIA Shield TV 16GB: Kodi18 with Titan MOD, Emby.
Kids Media Center: NVIDIA Shield TV 16GB: Kodi18 with Titan MOD, Emby.
Main PC: Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB RAM, RX 570, 2 x 24"

Ive gotta say, this app works a treat.
Works really well on my kdl60w850.
So much easier than needing to fire up the ps4.
Cheers

I have the same TV as you.  It is not in the Play Store but you should see the icon for the app in the Featured Apps section of your TV home screen

Checked and doubled checked. Definitely not in the Featured Apps section. FWIW, the Play Store says the app is not compatible with the TV.

I've got automatic updates enabled, and there are no updates. The only version I can find is in help about, which says "Software version: PKG3.473.0107PAA".

Mine has the same version showing in Help About.  The Featured Apps panel is driven by the Sony Shelf app.  Maybe you've turned off notifications off?  Try going to here and changing the notifications to on if they are off.

  • Open Settings > Apps
  • Find Sony Shelf and click on it
  • Set Notifications to on

Notifications are on. I cleared the cache and rebooted. No change.

Well that saves researching and buying Chromecast. Icon showed up on Bravia, just a matter of entering email, setting password and away. No problems apart from the cludgy on screen keyboard. Only wish the Bravia would take a wireless keyboard. (Forget the model at the moment as currently concentrating on a Win 10 anniversary install. So far, so good with 51% to go...

The Lightbox app finally appeared on my Sony Android TV KDL-43W800C after I did a factory reset and cleared all data.
