/me hugs his Sky Subscription knowing he can watch as much as he likes for less than 4 times that price with 60 other channels to boot! All without pirating, circumventing or the hassle of getting malware on my computer from dodgy sites.

Those who are talking about Rugby at a pub, don't forget the taxi to and from the pub.

Beat me to it. I was surprised, given the anti Sky sentiment here, that $24 for one game is raised. Say it was $15, $25 for AB's. For $25 per week you get everything rugby wise. Yes, Sky is more as its every month, but that allows avoiding high PPV costs per match. I think @Ockel has advised more than once in the past that per game on Sky its dirt cheap, and as you say, you get all the other sports and content. $100 a month, man thats a lot. Or I'd rather pay a measly $3.33 a day instead!

Lol malware, its rugby we''re talking about not porn, neither site I mentioned are dodgy.

My reason for posting was I thinking they are dreaming if they think many will pay that price for a second rate game.

I don't have sky because I don't want to pay for a lot of stuff I have no interest in. Rugby is the only sport I watch, I don't need or want 4 channels of sport and 40 channels of bs

That would be 8 channels of sport plus 4 PPV sport plus sport popups.  And 70 other sky channels.

I think that you're dreaming if you think there are only 44 channels.  And USD10 (Maori game) and USD17 (All Blacks) for 90 minutes doesnt sound inappropriate.  I'd guess that a Bledisloe game is probably USD25-30 (NZD39.99).  The future looks rosy for the game so make the most of what you have now.....

Just remember that it's not just for New Zealanders this price, people from around the world can buy it too, and many others around the world may not mind paying NZ25 for an All Blacks game.

Well thats 7 channels of sport too many for me and I don't care how many channels of dross Sky has.

Hey Sky doesn't work for me but it works for you thats great. This wasn't a streming vs satellite posting, that discussion has been done to death its weather $25 for a second rate game equals value to other people.

$24/game is on par with Duco level price gouging.

At that price, most people are going to pirate it. At $5/game most people would stream it.

They need to remember they are competing with free.

Free being pirating?

But your right. The issue with individual events is that is expensive. If these events were every few months, not so bad.

There will always be shoplifters - and there will always be businesses that suffer the cost of shoplifting.

There will always be burglars - and there will always be good honest people that suffer the cost of higher insurance (and the feeling of violation that their home has been entered).

But thats the price society pays when people dont accept the "expensive" cost of goods, right?

The article stated thats the price for New Zealand residents. It didnt mention prices for international people.  I'm extremely curious to see what those prices are.

For clarity, here's what it says:

nzherald:

New Zealand-based fans can purchase the livestream for selected individual matches on AllBlacksTV.com for NZD $24.99 per All Blacks match and NZD $14.99 for each Maori All Blacks match. The matches can be watched live or on-demand after the event.

Digital copying isn't and never will be theft, and is not comparable to the theft of physical goods, no matter how many times people repeat that false mantra. If someone buys a PPV and then streams that to 100 people, it's no different to one person buying a book and letting 100 others read it. The content publisher still gets one sale.

The difference is that 100 people have to queue up to read the physical DVD/book, meaning if you aren’t prepared to wait - you’ll buy the book.

Illegal Streaming/piracy on the other hand - you completely kill the need to buy the content in the first place, which has upstream impacts. Despite popular belief - these events cost money to produce.

I agree the product has a cost, but  wouldn't they be a lot better off if they got got 10,000 people to pay $10 to stream a game then if they only got 1000 to pay $25.

It would be interesting to know how many streamer Duco get for their boxing matches. I do know that those that do pay, get a party of people over to watch the fight, if it was priced more affordable those people would probably buy it themselves to watch at home.

Nothing is so crucial that I cant accept the terms and conditions that someone sets for it.  So I dont get your point of view - if its that important then you pay the price, if you dont like it you dont pay - you walk away.  If I see something for $25 and I say its worth $15 not $25 then I dont say "well they have paid their employees, they have paid to run the business, they wont miss it if I just take one for myself, right?"  Its not like I'm carrying a baseball bat or a knife and forcing them to hand over want I want, so it doesnt really matter, right?

You craft the theft so it doesnt make you feel like you're breaking the law, just the morality which is grey and that you can live with.

they must be doing ok because they are still doing it, like most business's if they dont make money they dont exist.
