OK this may seem a bit queer but have they altered the audio compression? My wife says it is louder using our usual settings and sounds a bit harsher, but the really funny thing is that our Cat will no longer come into the room (breaking a habit of 3 years) she looks at the TV and walks straight out she is frightened, or it could be an update from Samsung.

 

 

 

Some channels have moved to MPG 4 compression, I havn't taken a detailed inspection they may have done some changes to the audio bitrates

Here are the rates I am seeing for the Sky HD channels I have access to (using DVBViewer):

Sky Box Sets HD is H.264 1440x1080i video with the video bit rate varying quite a bit - I saw 2.1 - 4.0 Mbit/s over a couple of minutes of viewing.  The audio is AC3 5.1 384 kbit/s.

Prime HD is the same except the video bit rate is rather higher - I saw around 7 Mbit/s for the programme and up to 8.2 Mbit/s during an ad break.

TAB Trackside 1 HD is H.264 1440x1080i video with even higher bit rate 9.2 Mbit/s during a race (with lots of movement), but 2.9 at other times.  But its audio was MPEG Joint Stereo 160 kbit/s.

TVNZ 1 HD is H.264 1920x1080i video bit rate seen during a programme as 5.5 - 8.0 Mbit/s and up to 9.3 for a TVNZ promo.  Audio AC3 5.1 384 kbit/s.

TVNZ 2 HD seems the same as TVNZ 1 HD.

Three HD is the same as TVNZ's HD channels, except it seems to be a bit higher video bit rate 5.0 - 9.7 Mbit/s, but typically over 7 Mbit/s over a couple of minutes of a programme.

the one thing i think they have continually overlooked is the ability to choose multiple items to mass-delete.

Like when my kids put Mythbusters on series link and we had 90-some-odd episodes in the planner.

I had to go through and individually delete them one by one which is painfully slow. It wold seem like a simple thing to add - press [insert coloured button here] to select > delete/keep/etc

Access to the OnDemand library and having that pushed to my box is my idea of nirvana.  Although allowing series link in the updated Sky App has pushed me closer to nirvana.
