SheriffNZ: Interested how it effects those customers whose deal includes Lightbox (and Netflix) for free as part of their plan, for as long as they’re on that plan.

Spark has said this will continue in the interim but it will be replaced probably with a discount arrangement. One less advantage Spark mobile will have I guess. If Spotify gets dumped I will depart Spark mobile as their base price is higher than what I can get elsewhere.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Wow Sky must be desperate after losing all the Disney content lol

Odd thing to say. Is Sky the only provider here and globally that has Disney??  No. It affects most of them, and probably unrelated to Neon and Lightbox which is what this thread is about

Is Spotify being dumped??

LB is a discount arrangement, I would assume NeonBox would be as well, but not a 100% discount, but you would get two services

Disney content was a massive part of Neon's appeal now they need to make up for that loss of premium content with something else. Lightbox carries are wide variety of content that could appeal to people who were going to cancel due to the loss of Disney content.

You think?  I don't. If they want to watch Disney they will go where Disney goes. They wont just discard Disney that they like and find anything else to watch.

Well considering they're doing free Netflix now it would be awkward having to pay for Lightbox

Free Netflix and free Lightbox has been in play for a while now. Spark will be paying Netflix, and will be accounting for Lightbox, I assume they will be paying for NeonBox allowing a discount. I dont think its awkward, its business, any free stuff attracts customers

The whole reason for the deal might be to get a back door way to get Neon on the Apple TV.... 🤣

Didn't mind Lightbox, was a good platform, Neon on the other hand as far as I'm concerned is junk. I stopped supporting or using SkyTV years ago and refuse to return to them.

I'm already paying around $30 a month to various platforms including Disney+, Netflix, Primevideo. Wouldn't be too impressed if I need to take on another paid provider.

Spark customer already.

Same here - my Spark plan has unlimited Spotify and it's basically the only reason I still have our phones and internet still with them. Their packages are not that competitive.

This would be my hope.....neon is not currently on (any?) platforms....it's browser only isn't it?    Where lightbox was rolled out pretty well across most platforms....I think they're done the best at that for all the local services.

So if this means that neon makes it's way on to the LB platform (and therefore all the devices), then hopefully that will herald neon becoming a true non sky dependent service for content that is not sport (in the same vein that SkySportNow is Skys non dependent sport platform).

So spark is keeping spark sport? I would have though Sky would have liked to get it's hands on that and if spark is exiting TV streaming why is it keeping sports streaming?

I got Lightbox bundled with my Spark account.   After the initial  binge watch of Lightbox when I first got it the only program of late that I've watched is The Handmaids Tale which I suspect may move to SoHo next reason   so Lightbox won't be a loos to me.

The release literally says nothing about it. So why even ask? The facts are what has been released.

No mention of Spark Sport = No change to Spark Sport.

Just like the questions about Spotify. Nothing changes there until they announce a change there.

Nothing wrong with a little crystal ball speculation. Given Sparks history I think questions regarding the future of Spark Sport and Spotify are reasonable. Oh and I just remembered they recently sold Morepork to ADT so yeah there is a trend.
