I use a login that my MIL pays for, but yeah not sure I'd fork the cash out for it, in this market.

Sky really don't get the streaming product, everything is focused on the Box Top, their SkySportNow is garbage in terms of pic quality, compare this to SparkSports's offering, it's worlds apart, both in terms of UI and especially image quality.

In summary, the Neon UI and their apps are appalling and have the following failings and shortcomings:

- On Apple TV fast forward and rewind 'scrub' do not work. You can go, pause, go and that's it. If you miss something and want to go back a few minutes and replay, you're stiff outa luck.

- Subtitles do not work in the apps on both our 2021 LG C1 TV and on Apple TV. We want and need to watch some programmes with subtitles to be able to understand accents, dialogue and slang - but can't do that.

- no HD

- no 5.1 sound

and I bet there's other stuff. And they apparently don't care and are in no hurry to fix or change things.

How pathetic can get you get?

There is also a major fault with the iPhone app. When you download an episode for offline playback you have to keep tapping the screen to keep the phone awake, otherwise the download fails if the phone goes to sleep.

To be honest the whole platform feels like they threw it together on a shoestring budget.

Obviously these developers, including NEON, haven't read these Apple Developer sites:

Developing tvOS Apps

Apple TV Set Top Box APIs

https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/tvos/remote-and-controllers/remote/

and that was just me googling: apple tv api and sdk

Even Youtubes TV remote interface is not the best even though YouTube begins rolling out redesigned app for Apple TV users back in 2021.

Anyone heard more news from Neon since they said they would fix their app? The app now won’t even pause from Siri Remote or iPhone Apple TV remote. Also when you hit menu to get out of a show the menu disappears so you need to exit back to selection and go back in to the title to see resume play etc. Almost unusable. Bit of a shame as Apple TV is a great way to run streaming services in high end home theatres. Deleting and installing the app fixes nothing. Sad

Got this today when I reached out (sigh)

"Hi, thanks for reaching out to us. We're working on a new release that will resolve all the issues with the Neon app on the Apple TV. This is aimed to be released soon. In the meantime, could you please stream Neon using other devices we support"

Believe it when you see it - they have been saying ‘soon’ for months/years. At last they have tacitly admitted that their app on ATV is crap. It has never worked properly and Apple should never have let them release it onto ATV.

I'd love to know Neon's definition of 'soon', it seems vastly different to my take on the word

Maybe someone should contact the content providers (HBO etc.) let them know what a crap service their NZ distributor is providing.  I wonder what they would think about people looking elsewhere for higher quality sources.  Why would you not look for a 4K HDR 5.1 version if it was available? Hmmmm......technically illegal....yes.  Neon is kind of encouraging pirate sources by offering such a poor service.

Huh?  Was there an update for the app?

Now they need to get on to provide 4K 5.1 content.

Yep - updated on the 29/11/22 to version 6.0.10

Yippee🍻

All, I think, the afore mentioned faults and problems have gone.

Might be why I couldn’t play any content for the last few days.. deleted the app and reinstalled, at last can play content again, but seem to have lost the pull down drawer from the top for selecting different episodes.
