544x576 16:9 25 fps

Yes, that's a common trick with broadcasters.  Change from 720x576 to 544x576 then when losing lower bitrates the artifacts on screen aren't as bad.

Thanks, just noticed last night that promos had stopped and there was just a 'coming soon' screen in 16:9.

According to the latest Skywatch magazine Sky News NZ will be 16:9 from 26 April.

I wonder if that means Prime News will be in 16:9 since the local stuff is from the same studio isn't it?

For what it's worth, CUE has now changed to 16:9.
