Optus D3 will be operational 40 days from August 22. So in October it should be broadcasting - According to Foxtel.

pjamieson: Why can't people pay them the extra to do it properly?

they would have a much harder time managing available installers and available timeslots if all their installations suddenly became so variable in nature. imagine the complaints that would roll in if everyone had to wait a month or two for an install and they gave you a week to expect an installer, rather than a day...

Do I have a quad LNB. Just checked in my mySky HDi box in the test signal menu and there is 4 tuners all with signal. Does this mean I've got a quad LNB. When can we record 4 programmes ar once?

Thanks

I got sky installed in my house i recently bought about a month ago. The guy did the biggest hack job ever. Big hole in the gib where the dual coax comes out. Pretty sure it isn't a quad lnb though, will check tonight. Luckily he did run the cable down the internal wall, was a pretty easy job though. Just used the single coax that was there already. Been meaning to ring up and complain about the job he did but have never gotten around to it!

To tell if you have a quad lnb you need to look at your dish.  Does the lnb have 4 connectors on it? At the moment if you have a relatively new installation there will be 2 cables connected to 2 of the 4 connectors.  Otherwise there will be one cable connected to the one connector.
To my knowledge the signal strength showing on 4 tuners in the box just means they are sharing the signal from D1.

There is a splitter in the HDI that regardless of how many inputs there are, it splits the signal to the 4 tuners. You will never be able to record 4 channels at once, record x2, watch x1/live pause etc and 1 for OnDemand.

It is a multiswitch, this is quite a lot more complex animal than a splitter, a splitter would not suffice.
