Do you think the quality of the SKY HD pictures is as good as those on Freeview HD?
A1. On my 42 inch full HD TV there is no discernable difference, even at a viewing distance on 200 mm!
Are all Freeview HD programs now available on SKY in HD also?
A2. Yes, with the exception of the Freeview HD Demo channel.
I see there is a 24-hour expiry time / time limit for watching some SKY content, such as “On Demand” and “SKY Box Office”. Is there a time limit for watching HD movies recorded as part of the normal monthly movie subscription?
A3. There is no limit on watching recorded material (both HD and SD) on any of the normal Sky movie channels.
Can you record SKY HD programs on an external blu-ray recorder, such as the new 500gig Panasonic DMRBW850GZK?
A4. Not in HD because of HDCP implemented on MySkHDi. You will probably won't be able to record them in SD either but refer to the next answer.
Can you transfer all non HD SKY programs from the MYSKYHDi hard drive to DVDs?
A5. Yes. But all TV1, TV2, TV3 and all Sky Movie channels are restricted because of MacroVision copy protection implemented on the MySkyHDi box for all material (both HD and SD) on these channels. But there are ways around this restriction. Refer to other forum posts here concerning "Video Stabilization" devices.
What is the size of the MYSKYHDi hard drive?
A6. 320 GB sufficient for about 7 to 12 movies recorded in HD, depending on their duration - about 20 hours duration, very approximately.
