sbiddle: Component is your best bet. I'd be surprised if the TV doesn't have component if it has HDMI.

They are usually shared with composite now, so a green and yellow RCA plug does double duty.

Not aware of anyone who has had their sky box swapped out yet, they still have the old ones without HDMI on them.

Know of a new install done in the last few months that was left running on UHF to the TV because it had the 3.5mm inputs and noone knew where the adapter to RCA was. Box only had RCA or UHF outputs on it. Totally unacceptable these days.

That disappointing, but I guess understandable if they're aiming to bump you to a PVR model.

I had a sky install done yesterday, the installer seemed to think Sky had be trialing new boxes but having all sorts of issues with them.

Jaxson: Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'd like to ask what the state of play is with basic Sky decoders having hdmi out now in 2015?

My inlaws are building a new house and were about to run a reasonable length of component cable. For their situation a single hdmi cable makes more sense, so can I ask if you are able to request a replacement sky decoder from Sky, for one that has hdmi output now?

And if so, is there a cost involved with this?

If not, you can get a component to HDMI adaptor in the interim and still run your single HDMI cable.
