it doesnt say, but on the website they say the movies are 1-1.5GB, which implies they won't be in HD.

Will my ISP charge me for streaming content on IGLOO?
We would love all the telcos to offer uncapped data for IGLOO services. As it stands, we have some great innovating providers. IGLOO content is zero-rated from the following ISPs: Orcon; Slingshot; Xnet; Woosh and Snap! This means that use of IGLOO On Demand or any of the MY IGLOO functionality will not count towards your monthly datacap if you are with one of our partners. A typical movie can use between 500MB and 1.5GB to stream. TV Shows vary from 200-300 MB up to 500-600MB. Any data charges depend on your ISP ? please get in touch with your ISP for more info. IGLOO provides a dynamic viewing experience for streaming content where the amount of bandwidth required will adapt to your available bandwidth from your ISP (sound techy? it just means that if your broadband is a bit less speedy for some reason, IGLOO will work to make sure your viewing is as uninterrupted as possible).

Check out the PDF User guide from the IGLOO website
Allan's links may lead you there too.
There is a good image of the rear panel with ports listed.
Its on page 5 of the PDF.

One of the channels was previously on freeview, kidszone/tvnz6, while one has content paid for by taxpayers through the licensing fee, heartland. The other few aren't particularly inspiring channels, possibly Nat Geo is Ok. But it isn't in HD from what I have read, so $25 per month is a bit steep for just that I think, when you can get a lot of free content through youtube, and in HD too. People want PVRs these days, not just a set top box, and most TVs now have freeview boxes built in.
I struggle to see who the market is for this, possibly the elderly who already have sky and want a cheaper option, or elderly with an old CRT.

There is no licence fee. Public TV is funded from the consolidated fund

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

$25 is roughly half the cost of Sky's base package and igloo looks to have a good range of content for that. If you purchased sky for the base package only then igloo could be a good value alternative.

I see some example of live sports events on the website and the prices are in line with what we feared. That's simply too much for me to consider igloo an alternative to sky sports. That's fine, I guess I'm just not their target audience.

They do have some fairly recent downloadable content, but once again I'll be getting it cheaper and on bluray from my local video store where everything is either $4 or $1. Once again, I guess I'm just not their target audience.

I think the whole thing is really very disappointing. The channel line-up matches quite closely the channels we actually used to watch on Sky, and I would have been pleased to subscribe.

I have a DVB-T2 card in my HTPC, so I was hoping that Igloo would come with a viewing card rather than using Irdeto Cloaked CA. Failing that, I hoped that a PVR would be available at least.

I suppose Sky don't want to poach too many of their own customers paying for their full-fat service. It seems like a very short-sighted move to me. I think they're going to be disappointed with subscriber numbers.

In fact, I hope they're going to be disappointed with subscriber numbers. And John Fellet can get stuffed.
