If people downgrade from MySky to the Sky Sport now, Sky doesn't have the cost of the Decoder, they don't have to send installers out to people houses, people are responsible for their own gear not Sky, so the drop in price people are paying is not a complete loss in profit to Sky.

Without starter Sky charges $19 decoder rent only fee. Now it's just $6 more to go to startup, but use to be $31.

They'll have a surplus of decoders if people start returning them to start with, but those decoders wouldn't have lasted forever.

If the startup channels can't stand on there on two feet, is it fair that people that only want Sport pay for that, and vice a versa.

Think goodness they’ve got competitors that make their profits without charging for a box then.
I’m happy with changes they’re making to date, which doubt would be happening without streaming services being here. Hopefully they make Neon as good as Box Sky as well. Sports is going in right direction.

After Sky dropped its plans for a puck and rolled out its new sport streaming package, as time goes by with nothing more being said or announced, I’m really beginning to doubt that they will ever produce an IPTV solution for their general basic/starter package.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

killed the Cisco IVP project too.  which would be instrumental in IPTV.  Vodafone TV is the IPTV solution - and probably about as far as it goes.

So the puck is dead? I must have missed that.
I had held out hope for the next generation of decoder coming here but that is probably all but dead as well. With today's announcement that streaming is it, I'm beginning to wonder what will happen when I go to the beach. No broadband, wired or wireless. I guess I'll read a book (better download it before leaving home).

It is pretty much 2 options now:

1. Sky Sport now via apps

2. Vodafone TV

Puck was killed off a few months ago I think.  I imagine there will be new decoders.  Probably the equiv of an IQ4 or Sky Q.  Theres still 618k subscribers to look after so its a big market segment.

Its a banking act. If they offered full Sky on an app, they will pick up new subscribers (assuming its cheaper) but they will also have many existing that switch. Tricky
