if you read the links above the Ethernet connection will be able to be used to stream

The update has been done, but it seems you will see no visible change at this point, so it is hard to say what was done.
In the supplementary info they have stated the following:
This software update will pave the way for exciting new services in 2015, including a newly designed, high definition on-screen guide, reorganised Planner as well as on-demand programming delivered over the internet.

Shindig again read the linked threads its all explained in there

this functionality wont be released till December and/or March. depending on what they are releasing

all this was last Thursday was a firmware update

My mysky is unplugged as have work being done on my house.

Hope there's a way of getting firmware update when plug back in, which hopefully will be just over two weeks away.

From what I understand, you'll be able to use a wi-fi adapter instead of a cable, if necessary, per this statement from the 28 October media release on Sky's site: "In the New Year, all MY SKY decoders will have the ability to connect to the internet through the existing Ethernet port with an Ethernet cable or a WiFi device." I've had a phone/net port on the wall behind the TV unit since MySky was installed many years ago (unfortunately it's well behind a heavy cabinet so I can't see into it to positively identify) but I have no idea whether it's live or functional. I've looked at the connection coming into the property, and the VDSL splits off from the main box, whereas the Sky connection appears to be patched into one of the two phone lines that come out of the same box. I can't imagine any internet will be getting through that way. In which case my next best option will be a wireless adapter, although I could probably run a Cat5 down through the floor behind the TV and back up on the other side of the room where the modem is. The joys of living in a house on poles - unfettered under-floor access :)

I think Sky is planning to offer all this extra on-demand online content to subscribers to prevent Neon from cannibalising its subscriber base. I can imagine there would be some that would be tempted to ditch the $50-$70 monthly bill in favour of $20 of video on demand - especially those like myself who don't watch the live sport channels.

a wireless bridge is also like $40 for a cheap TP Link - usually cheaper than the custom wifi adapters they sell.

Ok a couple of things that have already been released.

1) update has not been done yet to the my sky range this will be OTA (like all other software updates) and you will know when it happens. The outage the other night was back end stuff.
2) from my understanding there will be other options than ethernet cable however the ethernet port will be used for all options.
