baileym1: Hi - will there also be a Sony Smart TV app as part of the deal with Sony?

Nothing to announce now around Sony SmartTV. However, we'll add more platforms in the new year and we're only getting started here.

I suspect we'll have some good news for Playstation 3 owners today, though.

Chromecast now that it's official??

Can't confirm anything, but it's an open platform with a significant potential.

Lightbox:

Something is making the server unreachable to you, which is making the maintenance screen appear. Are you completely sure that nothing blocks a particular type of traffic or anything else out of the ordinary?

My network shouldn't be blocking anything, I have even tried port forwarding all the necessary ports for PSN. It must be a problem at Vodafone's end, I'll email them.

With the partnership with Coliseum, I hope this means Premier League Pass might be available on PS4 soon. Am desperate for access to an app for it so I don't have to plug the laptop into the TV anymore. I don't own a Samsung or Apple (or any android) device so have not been able to use any apps for it yet.

This exclusive console launch makes PlayStation4 the first games device in the New Zealand market to offer owners thousands of hours of great TV content through the app”

Does exclusive mean there won't be a lightbox app for any other, non Sony, consoles?

That seems to be how they are rolling - with exclusive deals. I guess Sony in this case has stumped up for, or done, the development themselves.

I hope that doesn't preclude chromecast support (it being 'android' and not Samsung). (I know, chromecast is supported on all platforms).

We're exclusively on Playstation and not on any other gaming consoles (at least for the time being). That doesn't preclude other types of devices.

Can certainly understand why lightbox has chosen ps4. I think ps4 is outselling xbox one by almost two to one at moment.

Exclusive deals (w/Samsung TVs and PS) when Netflix is coming = Fail.

Good work on the PS4/PS3 app, Lightbox, but pull finger. Seriously.

I have been waiting for the PS3 app so just signed up to a trial. PS3 app seems to work well. Not sure if it's HD though.

This app still doesn't work for me, I have contacted the support staff and have been told they are passing it on to the "product Owners". Hopefully my issue is resolved soon.

Hi,

We're still looking at this, but so far coming up pretty empty handed.

You're also the sole example we have of this issue.

Can you please walk me through your setup step by step (ISP, WiFi, DNS, PS4 hardware, software and settings). I realise that this is somewhat going in circles, but the developers keep coming back to connectivity as the probable issue. Feel free to drop me a private message if that's more convenient for you or if you're not comfortable describing your setup publicly.

I'd try a factory reset at this stage, even with your 75gbs of stuff to download (unless of course you're on dial up or have a 5gb per month internet plan).  BF4 stopped working for me after a patch and it was the only thing to get it going again.

Lightbox on PS4 has changed my life in a good way, it's that good.  Before Lightbox I pretty much just wasted my life playing videogames and not doing much else.  Now I only play the odd game here and there and spend the rest of my time watching shows like Pirates, Dexter and Justified.  I have a much fuller, more interesting life now.

ISP = Vodafone, I'm an ex-TCL ADSL customer.
DNS = The one automatically assigned to the router ( primary 203.109.191.1, secondary 203.118.191.1)
Connection to PS4 = wired
PS4 firmware = 2.03 (up to date)
Lightbox version = 1.00
VPN = None
PSN account = New Zealand account
Router = Fritzbox 7390, 6.20 firmware

There are no DNS settings fiddled with on the router or PS4 at all.
I have no issues with connectivity in any games.

Here is what my setup looks like, everything is cabled.

Is there anything else you might need to know.

Thanks.

I am not intimately familiar with Fritz Box, but is there some sort of built in firewall etc. that might be blocking some traffic? If so, maybe you could try turning it off to see if that's what's causing the issue.
