5m Ethernet. Are they using a new standard we all don't know about?
Or misinformation?

I went through page by page, on the latest sky watch and didn't see boo about it.

Maybe it'll come out in a couple years time lol.

I don't watch sport, so the only thing tieing me to sky is I don't pay a monthly rental for mysky box, where once I leave can't get that deal back, so I'm just waiting to see what their on demand service is like, and what other on demand services in the market are on offer.

For me to be interested in their VOD have to be add free, and high quality picture, and with skys past history I don't hold out high hopes. Not happy that the zone channel has adds, very disappointed in that one, nice content but ruined with unneccessary breaks, where hoping if download the programs have no adds like skygo catchup, though it shouldn't have adds in the live broadcast with all the subscription money they get off everyone.

I read last months Skywatch again.. it said "coming months" don't know where I got March from..

I have high expectations for new Sky GUI, Freeview guide/gui is much superior in many regards. Even when I was in USA in early 2000s they were far ahead of Sky now..

Whatever they roll out will need to be pretty spectacular to keep their offering competitive.

Sky is well and truly behind the 8-ball compared to the competition that is now setting up - with streaming services offering flexible viewing, and multi device/room viewing options etc. Between that, their pricing, and their lamentable saturation bombing of commercials, I'm close to cancelling.

At a minimum, if they want to keep me, I would like to see:
- adding a DLNA server app to the box
- adding 60-second skip functionality tied to a button to the remote - especially if they won't dial back on the constant promos
- providing an option to easily expand storage using an eSATA port
- an app, so that I can simply and easily control the box, EPG and recoding scheduling etc using my tablet on the home network

I think I read an Interview with John fellet (sky ceo) where he said it would be rolled out progressively at a rate of between 1000 to 10000 boxes per week, so expect it anytime in the next year or more, assuming they have already started.

Oh I think that will be the replacement of old Skyboxes to new versions.. that allow mySky features to be turned on or off via satellite.

Else they have 500,000 subscribers 10k per week would take a whole year

you know they are not updating the device right? just the software, and the other non my sky boxes to the newer mysky boxes

why esata? usb seems to be the standard these days, look at all the ISP routers, all the other routers you buy, all the NAS units, all have USB

Probably because current mysky boxes have an esata port. My guess JimmyH is there is about 0% chance of getting those features.
