Jas777: Are lightbox saying that you can watch 'Better call Saul' all in one go?

Based on this article, I think they intend to have each episode available shortly after they've aired in the US.

Lightbox is promising to air episodes "as soon as possible" after they screen in the US, where it will premiere on cable network AMC from February 8.

Well if that's true it will be more convenient than watching them on Hulu Plus ... no ads!

Yep, thats the worst thing about Hulu. Ads taunting you with offers of food not available here :-)

That play store says lightbox is compatible with phones using 4.1 and up. But for some reason the samsung s3 isn't compatible, even though it uses version 4.3. Guessing it is a bug? Maybe only a tablet app.

Interesting move by Spark, but not convinced it will shield them from the Netflix threat. If I've got $15 per month to spend on entertainment and I choose to spend it on Lightbox, I probably won't consider also taking up Netflix as a secondary offer. But if Lightbox is free, I won't think twice about also signing up to Netflix. Does this help Lightbox win?

Zero rating lightbox traffic could help. But I am guessing getting more people on the platform the better. I still think they should have purchased quickflix, which already has an app which can stream to chrome, and is also on the tivo and sony tvs.

Are they are threat to each other though, or complimentary? We currently have Netflix, Hulu, and Lightbox, and watch different content from each. Giving Spark customers 12 months access may well show them that it doesn't have to be an all or noting proposition when choosing SVOD providers.

Our yardstick for value is how the combined cost of these services stack up to what we pay for Sky, which I want to get rid of. We currently pay $63 per month for Sky, and were paying approximately $35 for all three streaming services, including Unotelly DNS costs . And even better yet,  that will now be $27.50 for the next 12 months.

lightbox seems to have a few of the decent amazon series and kids stuff not on netflix (Dora) - so that suits me for $0.

No Roku app though - so will get SFA play time.

Wife may be interested in the kiwi stuff - but laptop viewing is about 5% of our viewing time.

1) Get the wife and kids addicted to it on the laptop.
2) Keep moaning about what a PITA it is to watch TV on it.
3) Talk her into buying a PS4, so you can watch it on that
4) ...
5) Profit!

Personally, I watch quite a lot of Lightbox on my ipad.

Got through the whole of season 1 of Blue Mountain State last night.

Anyone used a coupon for an old existing account. It says you need an active subscription to use a coupon, but when clickingthe subscribe button it then comes up with a message to say you will be billed $15. DOes that mean that the first month you will be billed, and the next 12 months will be free, or will the coupon reverse the $15 charge for the first month?

Does it have a chrome cast icon to cast it to the TV?

No, I signed up - next bill date was 19/2 - after applying voucher next charge is $0.

I got the email saying the freebie will be applied.

I'm stoked - will probably stop me from moving away from Spark when UFB becomes available in our street in (hopefully) a couple of months.

Agreed.  Kind of wonder how long Quickflix will last after Netflix starts down here as virtually nothing is in HD on Quickflix.

It has airplay, which I have used quite a few times, and seems to work well.
I don't need to use airplay anymore though, since I would just use my PS4 to put it on the big screen.
