cleggy2: I've ditched sky. Too expensive. But would stay on if was able to get that package. I will wait 3 months then sign up. Or could another member of the household sign up? Could anyone confirm if that would work?

You can't do it at the same address, as the address is what is registered in the system. However if your in-laws don't have it, you can register them, get the install and move the decoder back to your place. May need to change LNB settings but not the end of the world for a $700 saving.

Yes you can, cancelled under my name, signed up next day on this deal on partners name.

They would not allow this when we tried it. They were VERY clear about the account being tied to the address, but obviously if you told them such and such left and such and such is getting a new subscription then it may work.

Did you wait until you handed in sky decoders etc then rang up. Or did you still have decoders at home in less than 28 days notice?

rang them while we still had decoders to sign up to new deal, told them i was moving out. telemarketers told me to take in decoder next day so sky could cancel my account on the spot. telemarketers booked "new install" for the following day after that, so no sky for 24 hrs.

Just signed up to this deal, install is on Wednesday morning. Went for the HD ticket too so total price is $59.22/month. Current RRP for all that is about $128 so a very good deal.

If only we had more than a humble 42" TV..
