Anyone else find that the lightbox app occasionally crashes the tv, resulting it resetting as if you turned it off and then on again?

I've found a program that causes this behaviour every time. Life after people, season 2, episode 6 just after 11:47 into the show. When they are talking about wind turbines still running outside of Palm springs, I lose sound, then the image freezes, then the app and tv reset.

If the lightbox app is not appearing on your TV, and if you are using a DNS service like DNS4Me, you will probably find that the Sony TV app store is defaulting to the US store which doesn't have the lightbox app. Lightbox, please release an Android TV app :)

Hey @dolsen - I've tested this episode today and can't recreate.

Can you quickly go into your help page on the Lightbox app and let me know which version you are running?

Hi George,

Details are as below.

Your version is 1.6.02

Your firmware information: sony pkg3.001gaa

Your firmware year: 2014

I can confirm that the issue is still there and can still be reproduced. I won't be able to do any more troubleshooting before Sunday evening.

@dolsen - yup, managed to recreate it, albeit on an older Samsung rather than a Sony. But it's definitely the same issue as it happens at the same point you describe. We think something may have been corrupted with one of the streams on that particular show episode. Here's the corruption on a freeze frame on a different TV:

We're going to get it repackaged & reingested.

Thanks for alerting us to this :)

Lightbox App already present on my new Sony Bravia TV. Seems to work, apart from an odd glitch where each programme ends as the credits start to roll. Anyone else experienced this quirk? Not a deal-breaker, but a bit annoying and I'd like to resolve it!

Hey @gjdavies75

That glitch you describe (next episode starting before end of current episode) is something we're aware of & working on. Hope to have an update early this year. :)

Thanks for a quick reply, George. Other than that, the app works very well on a Sony SMART TV.

I have a 55" Sony UHD running Android and I agree: in my opinion it's far & away the better TV OS out there currently.

But who knows what's around the corner from other manufacturers...?
