I guess it would come down to how recently one purchased the box, along with what a "reasonable length of time" for providing the EPG would be.

Apparently from the article, they were still selling them up until a few months ago, so many will not be very old. Not sure exactly when igloo first came out, but from the looks of it, devices would be between a few months, up to several years old. I am guessing it will be done on a case by case basis arrangement between consumers and retailers.

We have Igloo - I'll watch history / nat geo from time to time, and SWMBO likes it.

Having said that, the set top box is pretty rubbish - slow to change the channels, the guide being hit and miss to if it shows what's on.

PPV sports is only good if you only request one PPV event a year, otherwise Fanpass is generally a better proposition.

Can't say I'll be upset to see it go ...

Igloo doesn't have the History Channel which is why I never subscribed. Not surprised to see it go. More surprised it's lasted as long as it has.

It may have lasted longer with a better channel lineup. Their Business Model seemed doomed from the start to me.

They should have teamed up with Freeview, so it had a proper freeview EPG installed on it. So if they ever did close it down, consumers would still have full EPG access, and they wouldn't be faced with this problem. It is always the problem with proprietary remote based services like this. You get the same problem with some home automation systems that work with a companies remote server. I had the same problem with a weather station service, when they closed it down, and I was left with a crippled device.

My take on closing it now is that it served its purpose really, keep more channels from appearing while DVB was mainly the only way to reach a majority of households. Now the internet is taking over the usefulness of making a DVBT channel is lower so less use keeping those channels off the market.

So most people will have devices between a couple of months, up to 3 and half years old, and most would have been sold between 2014-2016. I think the one I got my parents would be 1 and a half years, so not very long at all.

The Dish offerings are good but I think the retailers if pushed would only offer the cheap brands they have.

The remote on a dish tv seems to be made in the same factory as my $25 android box. Super horrible.

Really seems that a junk remote is a prerequisite for any STB not made by a big brand, which is why I consider the dish ones to be cheap and nasty, the thing you hold to interface with it _is_ cheap and nasty.

The only reason I ever used Igloo was for Pay Per View things like boxing and such, which it served its purpose well. How am I able to watch Boxing matches without becoming a sky customer? I really never want to pay for sky ever again in my life

Just received the email; pretty bummed about it. Igloo was at the sweet price point for us--mostly we watch BBC News and UKTV, in addition to the Freeview channels.

Anyone know if the Sky Basic is HD or SD? Will probably swap ASAP, since we'll get the 50 channels for a year. at the Igloo price.

I'm not sure do they do pay per view? just been having a quick look at the website and cannot find any information on it. If they do and for the same price I would have no issue in paying for it. Fanpass as it is is well out of my budget and really seems overpriced as a service in my opinion.

1-4 HD rest SD - about 46 channels Without sport and movies etc

**edit** unless you hd ticket it then sport movies soho zone all hd (if you are subscribed to them).
