Casting the surfing. Picture excellent. Working great via IOS or android. Colour me happy. At the same time they have also upped the number of devices to 5 btw if you had not noticed.

Bring on the account sharing......which is probably why they didn't have casting since the app was originally written.

What is account sharing? I imagine the past reason for lack of casting was to lessen borrowed logins

"Hey mate, how about you and me split the cost of a sky subscription, you can have the decoder, and I'll just use sky go". = Account sharing. Until now, you couldn't easily put sky go on the big screen.

Ok, yes, true. I guess they just accept there will be a bit of that, and for those that borrow a login, or share the cost, they wont go it alone anyway. So probbaly not a lot of lost revenue

They have also updated the DRM on almost all of the channels from Adobe to Widevine, meaning that they now work in Matt Huisman's Kodi addon. You can use his IPTV merge addon to integrate these with the main Kodi EPG (7 days of program data), giving a really good user experience. The 1080p/50 channels at the top bitrate of 8Mbps look genuinely great and are basically indistinguishable from broadcast Freeview. A fair number of channels are still 576p but all the movies/sports/premium TV is high definition.

This hugely improves the value of the Sky product in my opinion.

I was going to get rid of Sky when it was no longer needed by other people in house, but because of the Sky Go improvement will probably keep it now.

I haven’t tested through receiver yet but hope it’s stereo sound. Also means can catch up on SoHo stuff so more likely to Subscribe.

With regards to account sharing, why punish genuine people because there’s ones that will abuse. Plus to account share people are giving the other person access to their entire account so would have to be able to trust them.

Personally, I think its a mistake on their part. I didn't like that you couldn't put sky go on a big telly, but thought that's the way it needed to be....otherwise yes, they would canibalise their subscriptions.

Sky Sport now is a good direction for them.....now we need a other channels option as well. Not necessarily in the same app...or in the same app, but not necessarily in th esame subscription, else you've just transferred the subscriber model to IP. Where at the moment you've got what everyone wanted, the ability to pick and choose just sport.

Indeed. I have been using skyGO (all sport viewing ) for the past few days and the picture quality is great, right up there with sparksport I think.

Runs ACE on the Matt Huisman Kodi addon on VERO 4K. No need for the very average quality of SSN subscription

Thankfully I can’t really tell the difference between the Apple TV with sky sport now and chromecast with sky go both into the same panel. Maybe a little crisper the sky go. But the preference of using a real remote and not chromecasting is enough to stop me using it.

Around $14 a month Neon, if want non Sports stuff, includes most HBO content and more.

Sky Sport Now Applic for sports. (More live then on demand, don't know how that compares on Demand Sky Go).

Edit: Looked at Sky Go Sports just about all high lights on demand. Full replays very rare.

The Sky Go allows better value for Sky Box users, as unlike recordings most content don't seem to have adds to FF past. Plus can catch up on some content if it was on before subscribed to a channel. Before would have extra cost of Neon etc for that functionality or have to pay multiroom if for TV in different room.

An age ago, Fellett said there will be a full app. Given the improvements under Bennett, I'd like to think that these steps with Sky Go are aiming towards that. Getting it right before it becomes an official full Sky option

Trying again to watch SkySport9 Surfing and keeps going blurry (via Chrome browser) and if cast from app get "SkyGo encountered and error, try again". No issues any other channel. No issues if use WSL app. So frustrating.
