The loop appears to be in HD on the HDi - its on my CRT but looks SO GOOD compared to vibe/living/discovery etc even on svideo and letterboxing it.

I will definitely be subscribing to the Soho channel. More than happy to pay $10 a month for quality programmes in HD with screening dates very close to overseas screening dates.

Its worth it at $10, but as it would be $20 to add an HD ticket to get it in HD once my half price deal runs out, I dont know about it.

If they have revised the ripoff HD charge by then, I will keep it, but at $20 for that stuff in HD probably not.

meh, I have multiroom so get free HD ticket anyway.

Might consider subscribing after the first month. We'll see what sort of programmes are actually on.

im just wondering how long will it take to air the episode that was aired in US here. if its the following day ill be very impressed with it. hopefully we get discovary and natgeo in hd

The audio is only 2 channel dobly digital, i.e only left and right lights light up on my reciever.

With the adds on sky movies which are only left, right speakers audio all lights on reciever still light up,

Hopefully it will change once channel starts broadcasting properly, and get true 5.1 sound.

I am sure that there will be 5.1 sound for most programmes on SoHo. Will be very disappointed if this is not the case

Perhaps after the tournament-that-shall-not-be-named-so-as-to-avoid-risk-of-prosecution there will be sufficient bandwidth (or what-have-you) to enable Discovery and Nat Geo to go HD

while those channels might go hd eventually, i dont see what that has to do with the rwc.

Are sky using extra bandwidth (extra channels) to cover the games? More than they would use each weekend of super rugby?

+1. $120 for a year of that is a simple no-brainer for us. Have seen some of the indicated series (eg The Sopranos, my all-time favourite and own all of the seasons on DVD) but many of them, like Boardwalk Empire, I will really look forward to. Can't see the point in having a decent HT set-up and not doing this SoHo thing.

Well, in another thread it's been mentioned that Sky have stopped carrying the Freeview channels on their transponders.

That's probably helping things.

Which thread is that ? I still can get all the freeview channels on Sky's STB. I have the "decoder only" rental option from Sky, and that only gives me access to the freeview channels.

The thread I started in the Sky forums, "Are Sky 'Freeloading' Freeview". You still get the channels, it's just that Sky aren't the ones supplying the feeds. Sky are using the Freeview feeds for some channels on their decoders.

Can I ask why you still rent the decoder from Sky when all the channels you get are available on Freeview, (plus a couple more as well)? Freeview decoders can be had pretty cheap!
