MileHighKiwi: Is the site down? The Lightbox listing on Google (Organic) goes to a dead page.

Now back up.

Working for me now too!  (On Spark very slow broadband in Whitianga)   Quality OK on 24inch PC monitor. Will try Sony Bravia 40inch LCD later today.

Actually pretty impressed with both quality and content. However will check it out on the 120inch projector when I get home. Now that should be a good test :)

But so far so good :)

Hi guys,

We're having some intermittent DNS issues for certain ISPs. The site isn't offline, but it temporarily appears dead to some of our users.

We've hopefully identified it and work with the afflicted ISPs to correct it.

BigMal: What do we think are the priority apps/platforms?

iPad - done
Android
Pplaystation
Xbox
Chromecast
Roku

Roku would be best for me but I think I'm in the minority so not holding my breath.

Since Chromecast and Roku are not available officially here, they will stay at the bottom of the list I'd say.
More important than most of those (IMO) except Android, would be SmartTV apps, and an Apple TV Native app so you didn't need to use Airplay.

If this is done, please don't restrict it to just one manufacturer.

Apparently developing for the Apple TV is an invite only deal. I'd love to see this, so hopefully Spark have the klout to scrounge an invite. It would also make it easier for them to market their service, by recommending (or possibly even bundling) a relatively cheap STB that can be used to stream it.

I'd also like to see their iPad app adapted to other iOS platforms. While my iPhone wouldn't be my preferred way to watch content, I'd be happy to AirPlay it to the TV. As it currently stands, watching Lightbox puts our iPad out of action for other use. And my wife loves to potter around on it while we watch TV.

Working great casting to chromecast in full screen mode.  I'm a long time Netflix user and I'm impressed with Lightbox content and tech setup.

personally, I'd prefer a PS4 or PS3 app, followed by Apple TV native app (but that's because I happen to own those devices)

I'd imagine game consoles (PS3/PS4/XBox360/Xbox1) are fairly high up the list though - bigger installed base than any particular smart TV model, and much more likely to be actually connected to the internet too.

Roku and chromecast would be very small volumes in NZ

I'd hope that would be relatively low hanging fruit, as they already have code for the iPad version that they could hopefully utilise & share.

Any idea if any ISPs will/already offer unmetered traffic for Lightbox?

most ISP already have - it called unlimited cap - if you want to use the internet, you should pay for it you know.
