Don't even get me started on the con that is high refresh rates! We only ever shoot at 50 hertz... (anyone running their TV with high refries rates needs to turn that off... it ruins the picture, absolutely shocking, and a perfect case of consumers being dubbed by 'bigger is better' by the tv manufacturers.

Quite different... compression artifacts are compression artifacts. Simple as that. Sky compresses the crap put of their channels and it looks bad. Pretty simple.
I am off tomorrow to shoot a job on my Red Epic camera... at 5K resolution.... http://www.red.com/ we will use some of the resolution to stabilize and reframe in post, and then the advert will be finished in Full HD. It will look fantastic. Then it will be compressed to an inch of it's life and delivered to the network in SD... then it will be re-compressed again and broadcast.
The viewer will never see how good it looks. I will be lucky enough to sit in on the color grade and see it of a Sony BVM-E250 Critical Evaluation Monitor, it will look great.
And that's just a commercial! Sky compression is destroying the hard work put in by everyone below the transmission line. It just depresses me.
(As soon as the current season of SoHo Game of Thrones concludes - yes I am hooked - thats it for me, back to the basic package, and onto BluRays for all shows and movies that I care about).
I love motionflow on good content. It's just stuff that's had the frame rate mangled that I have to turn it off with. Sure makes 24 FPS stuff watchable.

Sounds like you have some top gear for recording. I would have thought you would have a Kuro going by that :)
Getting off topic here a bit sorry but woah, Ruff, I just checked out your website. Pretty bloody impressive. I've just finished uni and hope to be working somewhere up the same alley

If you dont know what the HD output is set to, then I would guess it is at the default setting, which is 'Auto'. This mean's the Mysky chooses the best resolution for your TV & will do most video processing such as upscaling & maybe de-interlacing.
I have mine set to 'Pass-through' which will send an unprocessed signal straight to my TV, which I think does a better job than the HDi box.
With the 200hz thing, im not sure what would be the best option, as with interpolation on, your TV is taking the 50 fields p/sec (half frames) given to it by the Mysky & adding another 150 of it's own. But with interpolation off you may notice artifacts due to nearly all LCD/LED panels can only resolve a moving resolution of around 300 TV lines.
With a show like 'Veep' where they use the shaky camera technique, this must mean 1080 TV lines are moving constantly, but if your TV can only update 300 of those lines at a time things might look worse.
