OK, so I just tried to watch 'Justice League' on the ATV4 to check out the service. A bit of jumping around is required to select a rental via a browser first then sat back to watch the film...

I get a 16:9 aspect ratio event with stereo sound only in my home theatre!

Am I missing something here or is that how all content will be delivered by Lightbox (no wide screen and no Dolby 5.1) ?

Edit: Checked the facts on this film and it was released in 1.85:1 so the aspect ratio is correct. However, the lack of 5.1 will push me away from these offerings if this is the case.

edge: I feel like I'm missing something obvious but I can't figure out why my Samsung is not working. I get the message "well be back soon", including "reset or app or your TV to keep watching". I have a UA46F5500 which appears to be a 2013 model (bought June 2013) so should work. LB app has updated to v3.003 yesterday ok. When it says "reset your TV" what does that mean? Any other hints? Thanks.

Same TV, had the same problem, solved the following way:

Press Smart Hub on your remote, then select features/apps, once you display the page with all installed apps, then the app should update automatically provided connected to the web, then just re-open the app. You will need to re-enter your user name and password.

Thanks for that. Thought I had tried that yesterday - even resetting SmartHub and starting from scratch! But tried it again this morning after seeing your post and voila!! LB app version is still the same as per my original post so who knows why it worked?! Anyway, thanks again - saves having to cast from my phone.

To LB support/feedback staff.

Using your desktop browser when you mouse over a movie it indicates the rental price. But using your iDevice (iOS) you have to wait till you receive the download/watch email till you know the price. How about when you tap on the movie and it brings up the detail window you indicate the rental price there.

With this iOS iPad 2 iDevice update the slider now works whilst watching the show but it would be nice to have a thumbnail view on the slider like Netflix app

Jumanji $6.99 - I rented a Blue-ray copy from my local United Video store on Monday for $1.50 usually $2.50 on Tuesdays & Wednesdays and $8.00 on Fridays & Saturdays and $2.50 on Sundays & Mondays happy hour 1700 to 1900. So I will still be sticking to my local store for the time being.

Cheers

It would’ve been HD to and have DD5.1
The $6.99 will be the SD price, $7.99 for HD with no DD.

All new realeases are same price online. Guessing they charge more as don’t have to use petrol or spend time going to store.
A lot of people won’t have local video store anymore.

You’d think the cost to supply would be cheaper online, automated system, and don’t have to hold physical stock.

It just is the way it is, if don’t suit then just don’t buy online.

Edit: with bluray need to own a player, and also have wear and tear.

It would be great to see

  • 1 free movie / month included with premium
  • All major movies in 5.1 audio
  • Movies in original aspect  when above 16:9
  • Movie of the week deals / day of the week deals

So you want to pay $3/mth - and get a free movie (of which Spark will have to pay 50% of the movie value to the distributor).

So, in other words, you want the benefits of premium for absolutely nothing (as the value you pay extra per month (and a little more) gets paid away).  ie - you place zero value on premium.

After ending a subscription, I'd like Lightbox to either by default remove all saved credit card details for an account from their database, or as a minimum allow a user to delete the "last" credit card details from an account - without having to enter details for another valid credit card.

FYI Lightbox on PS 3 updated app...

Not usable as

1/  PS3 controller key entry is getting very delayed response or none at all

2/   Did get a TV show to run but the "paused" circle in yellow kept going over the show...

Previously this app worked very well...

Spark customer here and stayed on existing plan...

Spark unlimited data max fibre connection....1 Gig plan/speeds    now here in Tokoroa

Using TVNZ On Demand instead till this is fixed...

Regards....Laurie

Almost true. For me to go to Premium it needs to be a stronger offering.

Also most of the movie prices are high when you can get all you can eat movie packages elsewhere.

No, it's 4.4.4, which is supposed to work, and used to work. Nothing else has changed.

What I'd love to see is Lightbox offer live streaming news channels like BBC, CNBC, CNN and so on plus others if possible. SkyTV have been dragging their feet since their announcement around a month ago - they need a company to light a fire under them to motivate them and Light Box would be that match.

Really annoyed about this, yes they know have a message on their help text but come on Samsung is a pretty popular brand of phone particular the J2 or 3 pros surely they could of tested this

If you receive the error message 'video playback not supported', unfortunately, you are one of a small number of Android customers affected. We’ve identified that this issue is specific to particular Android mobile devices and is linked to our content partners’ security requirements. This means that you won’t be able to use the Lightbox Android app on the device that you have been using for the time being.
