Looks great air playing from my iPhone to apple tv, about time! Now develop the apple tv app!!!
Interesting move by Sky. i'm not sure how this fits in with Sky Sports Now. I guess keeping Sat subs is their main priority - and Sky Sports Now is there for people like me whom will sub for summer cricket etc and then turn it off for a few months.
Problem is I can now use the parent's sky go account and get a similar experience for free.
Actually going back to the original topic....
I was watching some of the 8 Hour Bahrain endurance race on the ipad (Sky Sport now), and there's a settings button that I hit and I could see all the bitrates. For this it went all the way to 9500k. Later I switched to the Phoenix game on the ipad, and saw it only went to 4800k and after starting the stream on the apple tv, there was noticable judder on the ball.
I wonder how much of the judder issue is the source material.

I have a big issue with the Chrome browser dropping the Skygo picture to a pixelated mess. I can 'cast" from Skygo android, any other browser and get a good picture but Chrome browser cast and it is unwatchable. It starts nice then drops and drops. Restart does the same. Tried in multiple locations the same problem. I feel there is something happening at a browser level for me but not seen others with the issue.
Dont forget when you cast from a Chrome tab (browser) the traffic trombones through your phone and the chromecast, plus there are a lot more moving parts as the image is re coded, when you cast from the app, the phone just informs the chromecast of the URL and is no longer involved except as a remote control, so no traffic tromboning through your phone.

But isn't this now chromecast enabled via browser as well? So it should be handing off to the CC directly. or is it still needed encoding via chrome?

Hi, I dont believe so, but i could be wrong, as far as I am aware casting from a browser always encodes, regardless, why not just use the app

Just to clarify as above confuses me
Works 100% awesome - phone (Vodafone) to Chomecast Ultra connected via cable to fibre
Works like crap - PC based Chrome Browser connected via ethernet to fibre (no wifi involved)
Works fine - Any other browser on the same pc
