tangerz:SepticSceptic:Flippikat: Well, in another thread it's been mentioned that Sky have stopped carrying the Freeview channels on their transponders.
That's probably helping things.
Which thread is that ? I still can get all the freeview channels on Sky's STB. I have the "decoder only" rental option from Sky, and that only gives me access to the freeview channels.
The thread I started in the Sky forums, "Are Sky 'Freeloading' Freeview". You still get the channels, it's just that Sky aren't the ones supplying the feeds. Sky are using the Freeview feeds for some channels on their decoders.
Can I ask why you still rent the decoder from Sky when all the channels you get are available on Freeview, (plus a couple more as well)? Freeview decoders can be had pretty cheap!
Misinterpretation stikes again ... :-)
There are 2 reasons I use the decoder only rental:
1) I have the option of switching back to full Sky services should I ever get the urge. Was tempted during Rugby World Cup, but the FTA options seem to be doing OK for the time being;
2) I have a Series 1 Tivo, which works well with the Sky STB. Other freeview decoders are probably supported on the Tivo, but no Prime / Maori EPG.
Additionally, I can copy recorded programs from the Tivo to watch elsewhere.
