JimmyH: Fantastic. Love to give it a go.

I already have a decent data package, decent speed internet infrastructure wired to the bedroom and the living room, good TVs in both rooms, and good HD-capable media players connected to them and connected to the internet. If its an enjoyable service with good content I will then subscribe at the end of the trial. Now all I have to do is install the app on my WD live and I'm good to go ......... oh (expletive)..........

Sadly, a no-go I'm afraid.

Not trying to push Lightbox, and I don't have a Sammy TV, but I have WDTV , and a Panny BR free view recorder although I do have a PS3. Sammy DVD player is an easy entry. Aside from GZers, most want a plug and play, or switch to this hdmi on Telly to watch.

My next post may be what are good hdmi extenders, as my top end but not smart tv Panny plasma only has three. And my home theatre skills are already extended....

My 2 cents. It's a panic move due to low subscribers. Will it work? Probably not.

How can they possibly expect to take on Sky subscribers and geo unblockers with average (at best) content and extremely limited device playback options.

This move was probably the plan B from the get go with Spark.

Having said that..... They obviously know the device compatibility and content roadmap, they must feel they can covert a high percentage of users from free to paid after the 12 months.

Maybe. I don't know the numbers, but it's a Spark venture and we have a lot of BB connections, and Netflix and Zeon are coming, so I feel a good move. I doubt geo blockers figure in their equation as that's niche geek stuff

Same issue here. Did you cancel your previous subscription? I don't believe that my card has been charged and my next payment date is showing as 19 Feb 15.

It's a pretty good offer, I was in two minds about cancelling it before. Now there is ps3 support (no more AirPlay) I'm quite keen again.

Got a kodi box, wdtv,'smart' Panasonic blu ray player, android phones and tablets (none Samsung). Didn't look into lightbox much at launch because of the crippled device support. Disappointed to see I still can't use it now.

Gosh ..... do you have a marketing degree or something?

I do and I think it is a very clever move on Spark's part. I very much doubt it is a panic move (knee jerk reaction to other market forces) and, to insinuate so, shows a rather immature attitude to the overall subject.

So purely a coincidence they are doing this 2 months before the largest global TV streaming service officially comes to NZ?

Riiiiiiigt.

I still have an unused Half Price for 6 months coupon, If I sign up with that coupon will the 12 months promo be applied to the account? I could just redo the new promo code but wonder if this method works?

Hi guys,

There's an issue with a small subset of users who used their voucher previously, but have cancelled their subscription. We're sorting it and have our vendor working overnight to get it done, so hopefully it should be right by tomorrow.

The existing codes have all been converted to the new offer - so you can just use your unused code and you'll be sweet.

It's a sinister plot to let more Kiwis enjoy Lightbox and their Spark Broadband.

We've been in the market for almost five months, we've worked out most of the kinks, we're now on a good range of devices (still more to come) and we've got a great show coming up (Better Call Saul) exclusively from February 9th. It's the best timing we could come up with.

wasabi2k: Great response:

Company: 12 months free use of a service for our customers!

Response: Service must be crap/failing/terrible etc.

Sigh.

I'll grab my code and give it a go.

I grabbed the code and found that it requires a credit card straight up - I have a credit card but on principle I don't want to hand it over then fight to try and get it back off them after 12 months.

I also would love to see one thing; bring down from the satellite and rebroadcast live international new feeds - BBC World, DW TV, CNBC, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera etc. because there are many out there who have sky for that very reason. Movies and programmes on demand plus live streaming of international news services and I think Spark would have a winner on their hands.
