bluefox2010:

I was told by GeorgefromLightbox that the Android TV App which is only about 800KB is not a full App.

Unlike the tablet/phone version which is about 6MB.

It loads up Lightbox in Android System WebView Androids built in Web Browser which varies between Android TV box.  This is probably why some devices can play it like Sony Tvs and the Nvidia Shield TV
And some cannot play video like the Mi Box which is a popular cheap Android TV Box.

Hmm. Oreo ditched Webview and uses Chrome I believe.

Maybe some of you 8.1s should try the opposite or check the status.

I have two Mi Boxes and the Android TV app works flawlessly on both.

I took advantage of the "free" movie the night you relaunched, but had endless issues with it, though I did eventually get to watch (it kept stopping). I presume it's more trouble than it's worth to try and do something about that now?

I've had the same issue with TV programs .  It seems to get fixed by the WiFi router reboot then a Chromecast reboot.

GeorgefromLightbox:

Unfortunately we don't support 'actual' Android TV boxes (hence my giving out the APK on here to use at people's own risk); the only thing I can do is clarify a few things -

@georgefromlightbox

DRM results: -

Apologies for image quality, it proved difficult to get screen shots from the mibox, so I resorted to photographing the TV.

@bluefox2010 and @MikeAqua interesting...your devices both support the correct DRM level.

Unfortunately I can't really push any further since Android TV is not an officially supported device (yet), outside of Sony Android TVs.

Thats strange you are the only person I know that can get it working. Mine works fine until you press play on a tv episode then it says it cant play it. Trailers seem to work.

So you are using the Android Tv App not the Phone/Tablet App?

What model of Mi Box are you using and what OS is it running?

Can you run DRM info on it and post the results like myself and MikeAqua Did?

Thanks.

GeorgefromLightbox:

@Dial111 - in the backlog, yes, along with 5.1 sound

People have been wanting 5.1 audio for a few years now. The Lightbox website said on 15 November 2017 that some content will have 5.1 audio. Lightbox FB support confirmed this, but could not tell me any specific TV titles with 5.1 audio when I asked. Even worse is that I'm told that Lightbox has no plans to even flag which content has 5.1 audio.

What version of android is your mibox running? Are you running the Nougat beta?

@Bluefox2010

MiBox3 International version

OS v6.0.1 (Marshmallow)

Android Security Patch 1/7/2017

Build: once-user 6.0.1 MOB31Z 1304

Just opened Lightbox again and watch Seinfeld

Lightbox is Android TV v1.0.2

I used to have the DRM app on the MiBox, I will put it back on and take a photo but may not get to that tonight - got Seinfeld to watch

Lightbox has never had 5.1

The issue is that we thought it did, until it was proven otherwise. We did that in early 2017.

@steve2222 interesting... yet I get a error and I have the same box/software as you. Have you installed anything else on there? One of the earlier comments referred to the android webview being a potential cause of the issue.

Well I have other apps installed of course, but nothing of a technical/tweaking nature. I do let the Play Store update everything it wants to.

I also get the no play error. Just tried Seinfeld and no go.

The only difference i can see with steve2222s box is that his Build is once-user 6.0.1 MOB31Z 1304

and my 2 Mi Boxes are once-user 6.0.1 MOB31Z 1901
