Formula 1 in HD in 2011. I cancelled my Sports package after being so disappointed with the F1 quality - I can view it better elsewhere delayed which isn't a big deal given the time it shows... But if it's shown in HD, Live, then I'll reinstate my sports package for sure.

Cheers - N

OK, all i can see is BskyB just break down the entrainment pack even more, and it's only 1 pound per additional pack, i would guess majority people still will just go get the Whole Ent pack? and you still have too get Ent pack before get others.
Plus they separate ESPN out 12 pounds/month(maybe they do get it there in Widescreen?),but still...

Afterall it isn't much different as you wil still pay for channels that you barely watch.

the reason ESPN is separate, is cos it's Sky reselling someone else's channel. Much the same way we pay extra for Rialto etc here.

I think you may just have to reinstate your Sky Sports package. Check out the link below.

Formula One Management makes it official: 2011 season will be the first in HD

Although that doesn't necessarily mean that Sky will actually purchase it in HD, but at least there is a good chance.

Although it does sound good, I have asked SkyTV and they refuse to comment on whether they will display F1 in HD this year. In fact they said they wouldn't know until the first race screens..

Which is grade A BS, but obviously they're note prepared to say anything about it yet.

It's ok, I'll reinstate it if it does get shown in HD, I certainly hope Sky can show it, and can be bothered to tell people in advance.

Cheers - N

Either:

A) remove "New Zealand" from the Sky News logo in the top-left corner of the screen

Or

B) Cover up the "press red for active" bit underneath it

Or

C) Start carrying the Sky News Active stuff

"Sky News New Zealand" is a joke.

yes, I agree. They need to get the active part, or stop advertising it.

It's actually funny, I phoned up Sky and complained about this just the other day (although the primary reason was a decoder issue), naturally the response was "It's an Australian channel, we don't get access to that stuff".

I basically told her, that to me it didn't add up as Foxtel use the exact same decoders (pretty much) and it's extremely confusing/etc.  The Red Button/Active content that Foxtel has, is far superior to Sky's lack of content (the Weather channel in Australia is far superior).

Case in point for Sky News' Red Button services is the Queensland Floods, where they had about 4 channels worth of flood coverage (the flood coverage that NZ got, + at one point 2 live cameras + some other coverage which I think was on their Sky Business channel).

They also had the Red button setup for the Winter Olympics (although I left Australia before then, so never got a chance to try it out).

They have the technology, it's a pity they don't use it.

(for what it's worth, the CSR 'escalated' it to their Programming team, and indicated I'd hear back soon, more people calling in asking for it might help)

Sky News is already AUS based, but have had great coverage of New Zealand events as well, in some cases better than TVNZ/TV3, particularly in Pike River (their Earthquake coverage was also decent).  It's a pity we can't get ABC World 24 (Australia) as well (instead of RT).

Although Sky News is mostly aussie, one of the options available under Active is a full-screen stream of Sky News UK which I would love access to.

Does Foxtel use cable for their pay TV service which allows  interactive mode??  Sky NZ using  sat  would have to use the internet (most likely what the Ethernet port on MySky is for)  for a similar function or your dialup everytime you wanted to use interactive..

That's not right -- not exactly sure what Foxtel use by Sky UK is delivered via satellite and they use Sky News Active there - the Internet does not come into the equation, it is all delivered over the air.
