Anyone know an easy way to use Fanpass on Kodi? It runs pretty rubbish in Chrome compared to the stuff I use on Kodi. If only they had a PS4 app.

Hi Starlith,

We are currently making preparations to submit a PS4 app certification - hopefully not too far away.

Cheers

Hi, just wondering if 4k is coming this year for fanpass. I'm getting 4k on netflix and YouTube, but fanpass still 720p.

I'd gladly pay another $10-20 for 4k footage at a high bitrate.

Cheers
Steve.

Very little international sport is even available in 4k UHD so you will be waiting a while.

Hi guys,

4K is something that we would really like to do but there are quite a few hurdles to overcome - some of these are to do with rights and content avaibility while others are to do with the practicalities of moving live 4K sports content around the globe.

Summary is that it is on our backlog but a few dominoes need to fall into place.

Cheers
Alex

Thanks for the reply,

The main thing with 4k is the higher bitrate, is it in the roadmap to increase the bitrate of 720p?

Cheers
Steve.

Just got this email:

Hi <name>,

We wanted to let you know about some changes we’re making to the passes available on Fan Pass.

We wanted Fan Pass to give Kiwis the freedom to dip in and out of sport by offering short-term flexible passes. However, sports rights aren’t cheap and it’s just not stacking up for us as much as we’ve tried to make it work. So we’ve had to make the following changes which will affect you:

- From 24th May, you’ll no longer be able to get a Day or Week pass on Fan Pass.

- The cost of the Month pass will increase from $55.99 per month to $99.99 per month from 24th May.

- We’ll be introducing a 6 Month pass which will be a one-off payment of $329.99. It’s a big payment upfront but it still works out as less than $2 a day which is pretty good value. That could give you the entire All Blacks Season from kick off to the final whistle.

If none of these changes are your cup of tea, SKY have got an offer where you can join SKY with no joining fee and get a $150 account credit on a 6 month Basic contract. If you want further information, call SKY on 0800 800 759.

The team at Fan Pass will still be working hard on the side line to make sure you’ve got a great sport streaming service to watch SKY Sport 1-4 and Pay-Per-View Events.

Thanks

The team at FAN PASS

Big sigh. Guess that's Fanpass off the table for the 'every now and then' situations I used it for...

You might as well get sky at those prices...

Sky can't do anything right.

Can't even unsubscribe - produces a 501 error page.

Sky needs to hurry up and die.

Back to other streaming options now. I don't even like rugby so its not like they cater it to me, its just unfortunate that the football games I want to watch (Phoenix, SSprem, All Whites) are stuck on this dinosaur platform. Theres more golf on those 4 sports channels than football which normally gets shafted to the pop up channel (which Fanpass doesn't show), I can't justify it anymore. Was good while it lasted

It certainly seems that's their intention. Fanpass was supposed to be a flexible alternative to accessing live sport, but now it's just another long-term subscription. I guess if you normally get Sky for just sports coverage and you're not on a special deal, then Fanpass would be cheaper, but otherwise what's the point? I only ever used it for the cricket, and now I won't bother at all. I can't afford $100 a month - that's why I cancelled Sky in the first place. At $56 for three or four months of the year (not always consecutive) then at least they were getting something out of me. I guess from now on it's Radio Sport or nothing at my place.

My first thought when I read the email was "F#*k me!" Then, as others have pointed out, you might as well have Sky for that price.

I have Sky, paying $78 per month (I "bought" the box outright at the start and don't have HD but I had been thinking of going to fanpass alone but won't be doing so now.

I'm probably being naive, but I felt like $56 a month was about right for just sport alone, when compared to what other people pay for the full sky package. How this will improve their revenue, I'm not sure, because it'll drive plenty of customers away.
