They should've launched with an HDMI dongle and remote control package with bundled 3 month subscription and connectivity setup guide to be sold in shops.

The last thing I would be interested in is a service that needs a proprietary dongle connected to an HDMI port to use it. My TV only has 4 HDMI sockets, and they are already all in use.

4 huh.  Lucky person .  Mine only has two.. .

So based on some twitter comments it appears they are using Silverlight for media distribution, hence the lack of platforms at initial launch.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

Thats annoying, I guess the options aren’t great at the moment flash is nasty silverlight is dead and html5 is not ready yet (if you *need* DRM)

It would be nice if we could get a spotify like lib... look at all those target platforms :(

plenty of great cross-platform video streaming options, with or without DRM, over in Microsoft Azure: http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/media-services/

couple of Olympics have been screened using the platform, seems to scale OK....

Not really my area but hasn't Google Play Music somehow solved the DRM issues with html5?

So the good news is that Quickflix's Lionsgate distribution deal wasn't exclusive (Mad Men, Orange Is The New Black etc).

I believe that's probably my cue.

Hello, everyone.

We've just announced a swathe of additional shows for our coming service Lightbox and at the same time we've sent out invites for our beta launch to a selection of people that registered their interest on our holding page.

I suspect some of you may be on that list and I'm quite eager to hear any impressions and feedback. We'll probably look at getting some additional people from GZ on our beta launch in the coming days (if there's any interest, that is?).

Let me know if you guys have any questions (whether you've been selected for a beta in this round or not). I can't promise immediate and real time responses (we  need to build the thing as well, so I can't spend all day on GZ), but I'll be around...
