They don't have the rights to do that. No broadcaster does - it has to come from the American rights holders for that and since that cuts out our local monopoly (Sky) and duopoly (TVNZ/TVworks) from receiving a cut from viewers watching, they'll fight that to the bitter death.
So why does iTunes New zealand sell movies from studios like fox,etc?
I suspect that it's got allot to do with the fact that the movies have already been in the theaters here and on DV D but TV is another story. They hold on to this stuff for years without showing it in a timely manner if at all just to protect their IP monopoly.
