Hi Geeks,

Thank you very much for the above information. I rang the number as suggested: 0800 112 396 (ask for Alison: she was awesome!).

It took a few tries to get through -- the first few times I would hear silence and then a dial tone. On my fourth attempt I received the following deal:

MySKY+ decoder: $10 per month (half-price).

SKY Basic: $23.83 per month (half-price).

SKYwatch Magazine: FREE

Installation: FREE

MySKY "joining fee:" $25

The above deal is for 12 months. Caveat emptor: early termination fee up to $376!

NB: SKY had no MySKY HDi boxes available (half-price @ $7.50 per month). The only difference is MySKY+ has an additional 30 hours recording time.

I hope my summary helps out any others considering the deal we geeks received.

So I had a Sky door knocker come around on Friday.
Signed up for the 1/2 price deal. Gets installed tomorrow.

But the really sad thing. I got a hand shake from the guy, I'm the first person he has sold an HD ticket too.
Sure he didn't even try to up sell or even mention it at any point during the pitch. There is also no box to tick on the subscription form for the HD ticket either, which may prompt people to ask what is that?.
Better yet the HD ticket was only $5. For $1 a week why would you not get the HD ticket?

But how is standard mum and dad at home meant to know they "need" a HD ticket. My guess is 99% of people think they have HD if they have a mysky unit.... It's got HD in the name right...

The numbers:
Basic: $23.83
My Sky HDi +: $10 per month. (Normal My Sky is $7.50)
HD ticket : $5 per month
Sport: $25.29
One off install of $25

First years saving over full price $539.96 (1/2 price basic, My Sky+, HD ticket, and install savings).

Pretty decent deal and you can change (enabled/disable) sport as you want each month, same with movies.

That one off install fee of $25 is new too, it was a free install when I got hooked up.

If this hybrid Sky/TVNZ cheaper deal does happen, I wonder if Sky will keep putting these mystical magic pamphlets in my mailbox - they were awesome especially the cheap mySky.

Just had a door to door salesman come over & offer us Sky basic for $5.50/week + a free install. He told me that any deal you got if you rang Sky directly would probably only be for 3 months max, but through them we could get the deal for 12 months. He said he was from a company called 'Integrate' and could get a good deal from Sky because they are doing a large number of installs in our neighborhood.

l43a2: http://www.integrate.co.nz/ hmm

He said they were a large NZ wide installer, and the reason they could make such good offers was because they make large bulk purchases off Sky. He also said Sky wouldn't be making any money from his excellent offer & left his cellphone number with a pamphlet about the channels available.
