@grolschie - yes I think that Help article's gone since we relaunched. Sorry for any confusion.

@GV27 - yeah...unfortunately the PS3 is definitely on it's last legs, performance-wise. 11 years old...THAT makes me feel old cos I can remember them coming out! Little Big Planet 1 was just amazing back then.

@Shkiwi - not yet I'm afraid. I'm really sorry about that: this playback issue on Huawei's (and some other devices) has really kicked us hard. We're working to resolve it but no ETA yet. :(

Nope it's still up! Here is the URL again:

Thanks to andrewcnz on another thread, I now know I can rent videos from Google Play with 5.1 sound.

Not exactly sure. Maybe around 2pm. A short wait after starting the app, progress, white lightbox message and then something like a planned maintenance back soon message.

@gzt ... weird. Could have perhaps been a timeout of some sort? We haven't had an outage today that I know of...

I notice there is a new splash screen this evening. I'm wondering if there was a problem with that first time.

@GeorgefromLightbox This playback issue with the Huawei's and others, is it the encryption problem? How many models do you have affected? I noticed that my Samsung tablet, and my mothers samsung tablet are affected, and I am wondering how big this is?

How was this not caught in testing? surely you have a list of all the devices that people are actively using via the streaming platform connection, so it should be easy to put this into a compatiablility matrix to see if all the features you require are on the all the devices that are using the platfrom?

@mikeymike76 Yes, it's quite impactful; we did know there'd be some device incompatibility but the extent was/is surprising to us. What we did not have was a full list of each & every device that'd be affected - the Android ecosystem being fractured as it is means that list is a) nearly impossible to create, as we'd have had to know each & every device + configuration out there, and b) always evolving, as OEMs release patches, fixes and updates.

That said, we've now been able to collate a list of affected devices that have experienced the issue on our service. We'll get them onto a Help article - I'll post the link when it's done.

This most likely is a textbook example of how DRM harms the user experience. Pirates will just torrent the content anyway. It's only legitimate customers who are inconvenienced by this debacle.

@GeorgefromLightbox

How far away is the list of compatible devices, I tested another device (a phone by Vodafone VF-795) today thats running 5.1, and it failed with the same problem.

Thanks

Mike
