@GV27 - yeah...unfortunately the PS3 is definitely on it's last legs, performance-wise. 11 years old...THAT makes me feel old cos I can remember them coming out! Little Big Planet 1 was just amazing back then.

It has nothing to do with the PS3 itself, it was built for much more taxing work than streaming.

It is the programming support. Netflix runs flawlessly on the PS3. By comparison On Demand is a dog.

Lightbox is ok-ish, but control response is often slow and it freezes and needs resetting about 45 mins into every session. Someone forgot their memory management or some such bug.

It is a reflection of the relative budgets the providers have and the desire to support a legacy device, not it’s capabilities.

We are working on this. No ETA yet.

I have a OnePlus 5T. I also just tested Spark's own Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 7 Plus. While the Nokia 7 Plus is a worthy handset, benchmarks put it halfway from the Nokia 6.1 and OnePlus 5T. I am keeping the OnePlus because it's way faster and the AMOLED screen is perfect. No problem, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video play ok on that handset money-mouth

That is a massive list of phones not working. Somehow Netflix manages to run on old devices without problems with this DRM crap.

@Jase2985 Not at all: we skew heavily toward Samsung in the Android app - like the majority of NZ does when it comes to Android.

Sony Xperia also won't play.

It used to be fine - update killed it.

Please add Sony to the list.

Might pay to specify the model / OS ver, currently playing fine for me over 4G.

Model is a Z1 tablet and Z2 (two tablets) and up to date with firmware on one - I have not update on the other.

Both were fine previously - update killed it on Z1. It is 'variable' on Z2.

Hi,

Fround a workaround for huawei phone which does not work with the Lightbox app

Log in to lightbox.co.nz via desktop mode in chrome.

Works super, added lightbox as a chrome shortcut on the phone

The explanation from https://help.lightbox.co.nz/article/I-m-getting-a-video-playback-not-supported-error-What-does-this-mean

"specific to particular Android mobile devices and is linked to our content partners’ security requirements" seems arbitrary to me. undecided

Is this due to Trump on chinese electronics and tarriffs ?

Got an email from Lightbox titled:
"We've sorted that pesky Android play error".

Here is what it says:
"When we upgraded Lightbox recently, a small number of customers found that their Android device could no longer play shows or movies.

We now have a workaround for those affected so you can keep watching, but you will not be able to use some of the Premium plan features on these devices. Unfortunately you won’t be able to download to watch on the go, and you’ll be watching in SD rather than HD. These features are still available on all other supported devices."

Ahem... I'll leave it to someone else to comment on this.
