We were overjoyed when Spark offered us the 21 months free but have only used it once - kind of a "proof of concept" with my daughter's laptop HDMIed into the TV. I really would like to support Spark/Lightbox, but it's just not going to happen in our house without Chromecast - I'm not going out and buying a smart TV or another laptop, etc. just to make this work.

We're also in the process of buying a new house (there's just that minor issue of having to sell the current house first) and talked about trimming the budget by dropping Sky if we do move, but I won't do that without some alternate source of programming. And if I get Netflix, I'm most likely not going to bother with Lighbox as well. So come on Lightbox - it's now over two months since you said "Lightbox would support Google's popular Chromecast streaming media player within weeks".

Quick update:

We've finalised our build and testing and have submitted the new version of our iOS build (supporting our Chromecast implementation) for app store review.

Lightbox - we are online TV.

huckster: Nearly the end of the month....

Every week I seem to get an email from Lightbox asking why I'm not using it and I replay that I'm waiting for Chromecast support and they always replay that it's coming soon / end of month.  Not sure which month though.

"Thank you for your reply,

We are currently in the final stages of testing and hope to launch Lightbox on Chromecast by the end of this month."

Strange, I dont get those emails.

So what's the schedule for an Android build?

So what's the schedule for an Android build on select Samsung devices?

There, fixed that for you :-)

Can we use a browser yet to put/control lightbox on a chromecast? Not mirroring or casting a tab but proper streaming direct to the chromecast, like we can already do with Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, Pandora etc. If so I will tell my Mum she can finally use her free Lightbox subscription on her telly by using my chromecast.

= definitely slipped to June?

Why not just enable browser control of Chromecast right now? The mobile apps might be more convenient but at this point I think people will take whatever chromecast functionality they can get

You DO intend to support browser to Chromecast, right?

Lightbox: We launched iPhone and Android phone apps last night, as well as opening up our tablet build to all Android devices.

Chromecast support will be coming in the next update for both iOS and Android, scheduled for later this month.

There was a new thread about this, and they say it is coming soon to chromecast, as it looks like they have been concentrating on getting it onto new Panasonic smart tvs at the moment.

We'll release Android app (we're no longer restricted to any specific manufacturer on Android) simultaneously with iOS.

Our site won't be cast ready by launch, but we'll add that in later. It's a much more uncommon use case than using mobile/tablet apps and only works on Chrome browsers.

Thank-you for the clarification.
