Hello,

I just upgraded to a Samsung A900 from an old X609. Heard a few bad things about this phone, battery life mainly, but thought I'd give it a go. Just have a couple quick questions that I can't find answers to in the manual.

Where is the sms delivery ack setting?
Is it possible to add new words to the t9 dictionary?

And can new wallpaper/tones be transferred to the phone using the data cable? Or do I have to use some web upload service to get them on there?

ringtones and pics, "web upload", definatly for ringtones but try placing wallpapers in the "camera" folder on the phone.
now there is a site called a900upload which allows datacable transfers but this is a touchy and possibly serious consequences can result..

t9, no addable words, something samsung still never got right even now.

sms delivery ack is the other thing that seems midlessly absent! same goes for the w531 I have

overall the a900 is a good phone with a reasonable camera. battery life is lower than some but many nokia's suck much more juice. and the powersave mode can help a lot. small battery but large screen and fancy keypad light is what does it..
the musicstore is a bit of a joke though, needs a memcard really.

The a900upload method worked sweet. Got a bunch of games and ringtones on my phone now.

One question though, some of the .jar games I put on the phone try to access the Internet when I run them and then just close when I select NO, why would they be trying to get online?

Most of the games, like Metal Slug MI, work fine and just run as any purchased game would.

Some games not brought from the operator will do this (access network) This can be to do things such as post high scores, look for upgrades, more recent versions of games, etc, etc etc. This does not happen on games brought from an operator, well, at least not from Telecom.

Please note that allowing a game to connect to the network, that has not been brought from an operator is likely to, in the case of Telecom cost $0.05 per kb.

Is there a limit on how many ringtones can be stored on this phone? I have uploaded 6 using the a900upload method and only 3 show up on the "My Content" pop-up when chosing a ringer.

I seem to recall that only mp3 tones appear. the midi's I tried got deleted... it was a bit unreliable.

Shame we have to endure this type of thing, stupid network-op limitations...
I'd happily pay $1 to be able to load my own mp3 as a ringtone onto it but of course the Telecom' "lightsurf" photemessage portal also blocks the midi's and mp3's from being delivered as "download links"(which it can technically do) I tried loading an mp3 onto my 6275 and forwarding it to the samsung via photo messaging, the pic got through but the mp3 got blocked, ugh.
