Hi,

Ive been running Cyanogenmod for over a year and regularly upgrade but the recent move to CM11 0715 Nightly corrupted my EFS folder and I lost my modem, IMEI, APN's etc. Of course, no EFS backup (know better now!) blah blah. The only way I could restore the modem was to install I9505XXUGNE5_I9505VNZGNF2_I9505XXUGNE5_HOME.tar which is 4.4.2. Modem back but could not turn on WiFi and no sound. Flashed CM11 M7 and modem and WiFi working but still no sound.

Have reinstated stock 4.2.2 now and oddly, there is no sign of Know in the recovery screen.

Have read that ticking 'Auto Reboot' in ODIN causes the modem install to fail and that causes these issues but I've tried that too without joy. Apparently the correct modem needs to be restored to fix the sound but I'm not sure where to go now.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated before I end up with a divorce!

Thanks for the prompt reply. Already been there and flashed multiple modems without success.

You need to flash the modem twice in Odin, un-tick reboot then do a manual reboot back to download and reflash again using Odin.

@jeffnz

Thanks. Tried that multiple times too. Still no sound or WiFi under stock. Can get WiFi back by reverting to a CM11 backup but still no sound.

How did you downgrade to stock 4.2.2? Normally you wouldn't be able to downgrade from stock kitkat so I'm thinking it may have not updated the bootloader when you flashed the stock kitkat rom.  This would explain the issues with the wifi/sound etc.

What is it running at the moment? Do you have an IMEI showing when typing *#06# in the dialler? What modem is it using?

I'm assuming by this you meant knox in download mode. Did you have any mention of knox in download mode prior to this? If not, this would indicate you are on the old bootloader.

Thanks and sorry, download mode. And yes, it appears I'm on the old bootloader.

What happened when you flashed the stock kitkat rom? This should have updated the bootloader (which would mention knox in download mode) if it didn't update it this may explain why you're having issues.

Are you specifically wanting to avoid the knox bootloader? If you're not bothered, you could try restoring the 4.2.2 stock rom and then try updating in kies after a factory reset. This will ensure the right components all get updated.

Otherwise, when running stock 4.2.2 what shows up when typing in *#06# and *#1234#?

Under 4.2.2, *#06# returns my IMEI number and I get the following with *#1234#

AP: I9505XXUBMG4
CP: I9505XXUBMG4
CSC: I9505VNZBMG3

I'm wanting to go back to CM11 and not worried about warranty but best if I can keep Know out of the picture?

I've bitten the bullet and upgraded to stock 4.4.2 with Knox and then reinstalled CM11 M8. Everything working again now. Thanks for all the advice.
