I just got back from Shanghai and I could not get either provider's GPRS icon to show up on my Motorola V600. Frustrating, because it worked well in Hong Kong on Orange. I'd be interested in hearing anything related. My friend there uses GPRS a great deal and I'm thinking that Cingular, my carrier, doesn't have an agreement for GPRS access there. Any ideas?
I just got back from Shanghai and couldn't use mine. However, I know it's there, I think it's a matter of reciprocating agreements between carriers. U.S. GSM carriers seem to have more issues than European carriers when roaming in Asia.
That's what I thought too. I could only acquire two carriers when searching for networks and only CMCC would allow me to register. They DID NOT have GPRS signal available TO ME! Have you been to China? Are you a U.S. GSM subscriber? I'd be interested in learning more about U.S. subscribers issues abroad, as they seem to be more common that European subscribers issues.
On an unrelated issue can you give us any updates johnr yet as to when we're going to get some international MMS interconnections in place other than Vodafone OZ?
