I had my phone sent away to be looked at a few weeks ago as it had stopped working.

No lights while charging.
No response while trying power on or hard reset.
Plugging it into USB Port on the computer i get the following name come up in task manager: QHSUSB__BULK. A quick Google search shows this as a bricked phone. (From my understanding corrupted firmware)

After sending it away to be fixed the people it was sent to claim it is broken due to water damage.
My question is if it was broken due to water damage would a phone still show up in the device manager when plugged in?

Has anyone else had a similar experience or know if water damaged phones can be seen in task manager?

Water damage can manifest in many different ways.

The phones have magic red dots that go from white to red with the presence of water / moisture.

The issue is that a muggy day / splash of rain / being in your pocket etc can cause the dots to change colour.

I would ask for proof or water / liquid damage, the dots changing colour is not proof to me, you would want to see high quality photos of your PCB showing corrosion or water damage.

I would put $5 that they have opened your phone, seen the indicators changed and closed it again, not done a proper investigation.

Heres the image that I got from the shop that sent it away to get fixed.
No signs of the magic dots.

If that was true water damage we would see corrosion around the contact points which i cannot see. I assume the white stuff is glue?
