Looks like it is going to get re-released this year, I'd be keen to get one

Would surely have to have a 3G radio in it given networks are talking about turning GSM off

Yes, 3g is a given in any new phone made except a $12 credit card sized chinese phone from aliexpress. Its if they are planning ahead for 3g shutoff that I am wondering.
I think it's overpriced (US$60) for what it is.
Internet access in developing markets and 3rd world countries is increasingly via mobile phone, and when you've already got far more powerful Android handsets out there for cheaper prices you really have to wonder who the target market is for such a device.
Only released with a 2.5G radio, will this work in NZ on 3G network?
It's only 2g. :(
So it won't work on spark unless we get them to build us a 2g network for us old people :P
And only 16MB onboard storage, how does that store anything at all these days?

I actually think going forward you'll see some networks around the world shut down 3G before 2G. There are still huge numbers of GSM devices particularly for telemetry, and GSM is perfectly acceptable for voice fall-back.
