someone told me Vodafone upgraded their system 2 or 3 weeks ago and NOW they can send a PXT form an 021 number to the 027 number.

Unless you hear it from the service providers them self don't go adding wood to the fire, I'm sure if something like this was in place it would be on either service providers website.

Unforunately you still can't send from an 021 to an 027. I rung telecom up and I asked them and they still said no so it is a real bummer that you can't do pxts from an 027 to a 021

my theory:

vodafone will never agree to let telecom to cross platform MMS for one reason... telecom's handsets are cheaper at retail than vodafones.. if you could buy a telecom handset and send MMS to vodafone.. why would you need a vodafone handset?

Remember that CDMA and GSM are entirely different systems. I haven't heard of other networks doing it cross-platform (might be wrong, of course).

Then you have how much they should charge each other for sending messages across, etc.

Vodafone can't even get MMS working succesfully between NZ and Oz despite them being on the same platform. I suspect a NZ gateway is probably a way off still! :-)
