Not sure if this has been resolved somewhere else, but has anyone tried to disconnect a data session on a Harrier?

Without turning on flight mode of course :)

By DUN you mean the local session, not a remote session initiated via Bluetooth, is that right?

In this case, while connected, press and keep the Hungup button for a while - this will disconnect the session.

Interesting that the software disconnect feature has been removed...

If you use a software like Spb GPRS Monitor you have a soft Disconnect option. Mind you the name is misleading - it monitors any network connection, not only GPRS. It's perfect for CDMA, where you have to be sure of the usage...
